    Painting a MAXXPRO MRAP

You should be fine with a good sanding of every surface to be painted (for paint to adhere to) and a thorough washing of the surfaces with TSP (to remove any oils or foreign elements that would cause paint to not adhere), then good rinsing. The only worry you might have with paint would be with...

    axle seal part numbers

The seals on the hub ends or the input/output pinions (where the driveshafts connect)? The outer hub end seals are part #7061238, NSN 5330-00-706-1238. Inner hub end seals are part #10896684, NSN 5330-00-891-7826 (replaces part numbers 7521649, A1205Z650, 630D6, A298451, 913842, Q1205Z650...

    What fuel line to buy?

As frustrating as loss-of-prime problems can be with these trucks, the NAPA price sounds like a small price to pay for instant peace of mind...plus you do have your Dad's recommendation based off of experience.

Oil seal mod. for 3053 input shaft

Money issues in December? Why on this good green Earth could that be?

Dragging a Halftrack halfway across the country

Truly, the Murphy's Law Grand Tour. Glad that you survived it and made it to your destination. Tell you what, once you put 2 more new hubs on that trailer and a bunch more new tires, I'll take the piece of crap off of your hands for you for, oh, say $500. You know that trailer's...

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

If the truck is associated with or an integral part of your doing business, then YES....GVWR over 26K-lbs used for business, requires CDL.

    M816/M543 bodies on civi trucks

The red 816 in your last photos looks like the one from a scene in Mad Max (original); highway crash where Captain Fifi warns Max that the bikers are after him with a bounty on his head.

    M925A2 Delco Style Alternator

I used 4-ga cable and soldered on copper terminal ends, then applied heavy-duty heat shrink over exposed wiring. HTH.

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

Those are all good points; I prefer the "gray areas" as by default it is supposed to favor the defendant. Most of the non-commercial laws tend to be pretty gray and open to some interpretation. DMV employees interpret a law or ruling one way, and enforcement (troopers) may interpret it another...

    Hydraulic head fitting Q

Or maybe run a standard 45-degree fitting and then a straight Push-Lok fitting to clear the block?

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

One more thing, Tom: I have also personally asked NHP Motor Carrier enforcement troopers about non-commercial inspections. I've been told almost to a man that they are primarily focused on commercial carriers, and not non-commercial. If you read between the lines in the DMV N/C DL handbook...

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

No apology necessary; you're a good man Tom, and I hope you are able to enjoy your truck for many years of trouble-free miles. Thank you for posting the DL study guide; everything on the test is right inside that booklet. HINT: Your drive tester may try to slyly block your passenger-side...

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

There is an air brake endorsement; it is incorporated with the Class A or B licensing, regardless if commercial or non-commercial. Because of the long history of farming & ranching in NV, the Non-Commercial designation is primarily used for these folks to move their equipment from location to...

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

NV honors "reciprocity" with respect to DMV regs for each state. As long as you are legal in your state (i.e., non-commercial MV covered by DL regardless of weight), then you are OK in NV....if you are not required to have any special endorsements for your MV with a GVWR over 26,001-lbs in your...

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

I'm glad that you had no issues registering your truck, and I hope that your camper build goes well so that you can enjoy many many years & miles of enjoyment from it. [thumbzup]

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

Not to mention that I personally confirmed with NHP investigators that if you are involved in any type of collision/accident, your GVWR WILL be looked at and be an issue...as well as major issues from your insurance company.

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

They must have done you a favor or you have a close friend working at the CC DMV then; NRS states that the GVWR listed on the data plate will determine if you need additional licensing requirements....if stamped GVWR is 26,001 pounds and above, your Class C driver's license won't cut it. Just...
