So the brakes are done which is good progress. So I moved on to the fuel system. The carb was clean and dry so that was easy. But that's where the easy ended. I knew there was "fuel" in tank but all the lines are clogged. Well from the shut off valve to the tank. So it looks like I'm replacing...
I was finally able to get the rear hubs off. I bought a second puller and combined the two so it had five legs. Then got the big hammer out and after alot of hits it finally came off. Good thing I was able to get them off cause there was barely any grease in it.
So now the only thing left is...
Unless I missed something in the TM I didn't see anything about the other end of the axle to remove the hub. It just say to remove the wheel, dust cap, cotter pin then the nut. Then use hub puller and comes right off. But mine doesn't pop right off.
The odd thing is the pads and hardware look...
It had shoes and everything in the drum and it all was free and moving. Don't know if the wheel cylinders were any good though. I was able to pull the 3 screws on the drum and drum came off the hub with no issue. The hub just won't come off the axle shaft

And today was a set back. Rear hubs don't want to come off. They spin so I know the shoes aren't stuck but no luck with the hub puller. Pulled the drum off and pulled out the brake parts out. Used a slide hammer to see if it would move and nothing. So I'm stuck for now.

I was just going off what I was told. It doesn't have any data plates on her. I don't remember if there is frame marking on these to find out year

I ended up with a new rescue this month. Got my hands on pretty clean 52 M38a1. Looks like someone started to restore but stopped. All the major parts, very little rust and the engine is free. Won't know if she starts up till I can clean out the fuel system. Going to go through all the brakes...
Well now it seems like the master cylinder has an issue. I forgot to take pictures of the issue before I closed up the shop today. But it seems like at the end of the spring, that piece is three pieces. I only know cause there is a metal piece with holes in it a rubber thing and the metal part...
Well the airpack did say I quit. Luckily I still had the rebuild kit that I bought for the other airpack that I was planning on doing, before I got this one. The major of it was good minus this piece off the air side.

While I'm waiting on some electrical parts I figured I'd deal with the brake issues. When I put everything back together everything worked great. Then I added the remote reservoir and that's when the problems started. I go from have no brakes to brakes locked up. I took the remote reservoir off...
From what I know from this truck it was a Marine Corps truck. Then went to Air Force Reserves at the end of its time. Started off on Camp Pendleton and ended up March ARB. Other then that I haven't been able to get much more. Which is still alot more then some people can find out about their...
Now that makes sense. I didn't even think to look at deep water fording stuff.
And now the other things that didn't seem right makes more sense too.

So dealing some electrical issues still. Can't seem to get any of my gauge to work still and having issues with the lights in the rear. But on top of that brakes now get hard as rock and an air line blew.
Not sure what this one does though. Seems to go to the transmission.
