    Successful Deuce Recovery

Once the spindles were removed from the brake backing plates by grinding off the rivets, I had to flatten the backs in order for them to lie flat. I torched off as much of the old axle housing as I could, and them used my grinder to remove the rest of the material. I cut a waffle pattern to...

    Successful Deuce Recovery

I've been working tirelessly on building a small crane to be mounted at the end of the bed, in order to lift spare tires and full WMO/UMO barrels. I have tried to fabricate this crane from scrap metal and parts on hand, but I've had to break down and buy a few things like pulleys, etc... I...

    M816 multifuel and 53" tires

I can't help but shake my head when I hear preppers talk about using modern diesel vehicles as BOVs...especially the ones that require DEF. I usually get a blank look when I ask them what they plan on doing when their truck's ECU requires a re-flash at the dealership after they bug out...and...

HanksDeuce: 8" Lift, Bobbed, External Cage, A/C and more Project!

I like that extended drain tube. I found a good idea from fellow Detroit Diesel owners in reference to "slobber tubes," which I plan on doing with my DD 4-53T and now I'm thinking of doing it as you have. Take a short piece of 3 or 4-inch ABS plastic drain pipe available from hardware stores...

    Successful Deuce Recovery

I found I had a 4-gallon portable compressed air tank lying around, so I decided to use it as my collection canister, as the heavier-gauge walls would handle the higher air pressure just fine and would be easier to weld the steel piping into. I salvaged everything from the original oil...

    Successful Deuce Recovery

My daily driver has been giving me fits lately, and my Dodge has developed the dreaded "Death Wobble" at only 140K miles, so I haven't been able to spend as much time as I would have preferred lately to working on my Deuce. I have been working on fabricating a filtration system for UMO/WMO for...

    fuel return line

LOL, I put a lot of work into fixing the leaks lately, so it better not leak!!! What's sad is that when I park my Deuce in my driveway, not a single drop is left anywhere underneath it...but then I park one of my pickups there, it's flooded with oil & fluid leaks. aua It seems like...

    fuel return line

Nice! My local All-Hose is an authorized Parker dealer, good stuff!! I went with the braided for the longevity; here in the desert, rubber starts dry-rotting & cracking after 4 or 5 years. I should get some pretty long life out of the braided nylon. Parker will set you up good, and you...

    fuel return line

Joe, I went to a shop that makes new hoses of all types (All-Hose, don't know if there are any in your area) and they quickly fabbed up a completely new hose for me made from braided nylon, which will last far longer than the rubber it replaced. The cost was reasonable, but I don't remember...

    Is the M880 gearbound

If you go looking for different wheels, make sure you get the wheels that fit Dodge and/or Ford 8-luggers. GM trucks had a smaller-diameter hub opening, so GM 8-lug wheels won't fit on Dodge nor Ford....but you CAN use Dodge/Ford (pre-1998 Ford that is) 8-lug wheels on GM trucks. ETA: FWIW...
