    Successful Deuce Recovery

I wanted to start working on a small tailgate crane for the back of my Deuce to lift & lower spare tires and whatnot, but I can't access the rear of the truck....time to start cleaning house! Right after I picked up this Deuce at the end of last year, I picked up 30 used wheels & tires from a...

    Gas tank issues

Go to a pool supply store and purchase a gallon or two of Muriatic Acid (the concentrated stuff, NOT the diluted stuff from Home Depot or Lowe's). Pour it in your tank and let it sit for 15-30 minutes per side that needs to be cleaned. Afterwards, wash it out carefully with cold water (it is...

5-Ton HMTT Prototype Restoration and TACOM Show

I LOVE that truck!!! Great job, she looks FANTASTIC!! [thumbzup] [thumbzup] [thumbzup] [thumbzup] [thumbzup] Amazing how it dwarfs the Deuce next to it at the show....

Rear Hub Removed- A Few Questions

I agree, I do the same thing, but I use The Right Stuff (impervious to oil/fuel). So far, so good!

How easy is it to roll a deuce? Best tires without conversion kit for more speed/trac

Did that come after the Freestyle portion of the race, or just after the car crush????

    Successful Deuce Recovery

I still have them, put off to the side out of the sun...a couple were starting to develop cracks since they are so old, but I suppose as long as the tubes hold air they are OK for short trips. I have another parts truck or two to pick up from a friend's ranch, I might use them for those trucks...

    Successful Deuce Recovery

Started working on mounting up the front wheels & tires...the fronts are 395/85R20 Michelin XZLs with the Kevlar run-flat inserts. The tar-like crap inside of these tires is a real pain to clean out, but at least all the dirt & debris inside the tire sticks to the tar. I cleaned out as much as...

4th Annual Bridge at Remagen Aug 2012

My father's uncle (William Hart) was an Army infantryman in WWII, and shortly after winning the battle for the bridge he was killed in action on the east side of the river....roughly a month before the end of the war in Europe. He is buried in Belgium in a US Military cemetery. Do good on him...

    Storm Brewing

What about your axle vents? Hope all you SSer's in Florida & other paths of the impending hurricane make it through safe & sound...I hope it dies down to nothing more than an afternoon rain storm. God bless & be safe!

    Successful Deuce Recovery

These tires & wheels are killing me! It takes me several days to clean up a pair of wheels, what with all the rust & other detritus all over them. I remove the O-ring to inspect for serviceability, then clean it with silicone spray. I de-rust the inside half of the wheel (strip to bare metal...

    Successful Deuce Recovery

Got my re-centered FMTV wheels back from my local fabricator; now it's a matter of cleaning up the back half of the wheels and checking the O-rings, installing new valve stem protectors (3/8" fuel line) and new valve cores. Got 2 tires mounted up and installed, the photos show the new rear...

    Slowest deuce restoration ever

I need to install one of those as well...I've been toying with the idea of installing gas lift cylinders (like as used on hatchbacks et. al.) on the hood to hold itself open like a modern vehicle. But haven't had a chance to do any research yet on anything viable. Looking good Joe, keep up the...

    Successful Deuce Recovery

WHEW! Finally got the seat brackets completed & the buckets installed into the truck. I intended to keep the driver's side bracket nice, clean, and simple; but when I started examining the driver's seat and the literature on its functioning, I realized that I wanted to keep its features. It...

Can I turn an M35 into a family hauling, 5th wheel camper towing rig for under $12K?

Most of the problems with the 6.0 & the 6.4 can be traced back to the internal oil cooler & EGR cooler. Bullet Proof Diesel in Arizona (www.bulletproofdiesel.com) has developed solutions for these issues and you can either fix them yourself with their parts or drop your truck off at their shop...

Can I turn an M35 into a family hauling, 5th wheel camper towing rig for under $12K?

Hey, now you're perfectly describing my childhood camping trips....how in the heck did I make it this long?!?!?!?

    MRAP Alpha up close

I hope they actually make it to the Border Patrol, but I suspect that they will instead end up in the "mother agency" for them and the BP agents won't even be able to sniff them.

Adding Brake Fluid to a M105A2

I converted several of mine to surge brake couplers; now checking the fluid level & bleeding the brakes is a snap!

    Deuce failure to start

I agree with Heath: it might be a problem with the HH. Remove it to check to see if the button fell/broke off the bottom. You don't have to remove the IP to do this (ask me how I know). Just ensure that the HH is installed in alignment with the rest of the IP & engine...you will have to...
