Oil in the CDR tubing is normal. Did you by chance have that hooked directly to the intake without the CDR valve?
What about the throttle return spring on the throttle mechanism?
Otherwise, the advice you got of the IP being bad is pretty much the only source of fuel left to cause the engine...
I am just going to call it a truck bumper instead of writing M1008, M1028, M1031 CUCV bumper.
Let me cover the M1009 bumper first real fast. The suburban frame is just the right width to allow a M1009 bumper without modification to fit right up. However, the suburban frame has 3 bolt holes per...
I thought that bumper was going to kick my butt pulling the fuel tank off. I had put it together in this order: Receiver hitch, bumper brackets, fuel tank, fuel tank skid plate, bumper, pintle hook. With the truck up on the lift, way up on the lift actually. I was able to snake an open end...
Somewhere in this thread I stated that I wanted to pick the truck up as little as possible and still run 35 x 12.50 tires. I also didn't want to cut the entire front fenders off to fit the tires. I really like the way my M1009's ride down the road. Firm suspensions seem to be my thing. M35's...
I think 5 M35 trucks is the most we have had in the past. My whistler M35A2 will not make it this year. We went to fire it up the other day and everything was dead. Power to and through the switch on the dash, but nothing working. We hot wired the starter to fire it up and move, but nothing...
I'm glad you are getting this going again after all the unexpected troubles Rich.
That is neat how they are going to just build a new part instead of welding the old part back on.
I was a very good hurdle runner in high school and even ran in college some. This build is just a really long hurdle race.
Now that I have a transmission that should be ready to go. I have to get a controller. They are not cheap. There are 5 or 6 stand alone transmission control units out...
I need to do the AN fitting thing too. It seems the transmission case is straight threads, not NPT tapered. So if you replace the fittings on the case, be aware.
I was going to do the stock TH400 metal lines to the front then add a cooler to the return from the radiator. Then I got to...
Rich,
The adaptor the line screws to has to have some tubing inside the transmission. Here is a thread from another forum with pictures and everything:

Forgot to mention the 1998 cooling line change. The 4L80E until 1997 had the cooler lines in the same basic spot as the TH400. They were back a little bit more compared to flywheel, but close enough that metal lines could be bent a bit to screw right in. 1998 had the return line moved back to...
I didn't know this either until last weekend.
1991-1993 4L80E units have a wiring harness unique to them and not compatible with anything newer or any of the aftermarket controller units. Besides changing the internal wiring harness, these years have to have the solenoids inside changed over...
Welcome back to the internet Joe.
Lots of progress going on but no pictures. I redid the headliners, they are installed. Overhead console wiring was a major pain by itself. Add in the lighted mirror on the passenger side and the compass/thermometer mirror wiring and it becomes a mess. All done...
You have discovered first hand that military vehicles are herd animals. They are happy when there are others nearby. Beware that these two probably won't be your last.
Very clean looking turbo install. Where does the exhaust exit the truck?
I had almost the exact same issue when trying to get my Gl 6.2 to start when I put it in my m715. I had fuel in the filter, fuel coming out of the lift pump and fuel at the injectors. Yet, it would run for about 5-10 seconds then die. A minute or more of cranking would get to fire and then die...
How many times did you try and start it? Just because you have fuel seeping at the injectors doesn't mean all the air is gone. Also, if you IP was dry, it will take 30-45 seconds of cranking to get pressurized fuel to the injectors. Even then it will probably do no more that puff and chug a...
