    Single Exhaust on M1009 Question??

All of the NA diesel engines in square body trucks were dual from manifold to tail pipe. The 1988 and newer GMT-400 NA 6.2 did have a single exhaust with the cross over under the torque converter area. Those trucks though are IFS and driver side drop front drive shaft. That cross over will...

    Fuel injector help

If the knock is still there then pulling the valve cover to make sure the valve springs are actually still there and the rockers are still attached. After that you are looking at the bottom end.

    1009 removing body from frame

I would suggest pulling the fiberglass rear top off. Less things to break and a lot less mass to move around. Maybe make a plate with eyelets to bolt onto the inside the tailgate hinge bolts. So the tailgate is up and helping hold the body square but you can hook your lifting straps on...

    M101a1 Trailer

No, far from it. The lock ring rims are actually a pain to get apart when you want to get them apart. As long as there is a bead touching the outer 2 inches of the lock ring, it isn't coming apart.

    blown fuse

Besides telling us which fuse. Have you cleaned all of your fuse holder tabs in the fuse panel with a small nail file? Does the fuse that keep blowing fit in very loose and come out with just a slight pull? If so, use a bent pick like a dental tool to carefully bend the tabs toward the fuse a...

    Turbo kit for a 6.2?

Sorry, I saw 6.2 and thought "CUCV" and didn't even notice what forum we were in. Yeah, no Banks kit for the HMMWV. There is a guy on the diesel place web site that put a 6.5 in a 1978 Corvette and added a turbo. He put the turbo in front of the engine drive belts. He made his own...

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

The art class next to mine which had a camera moved to another building and I have been reduced to even less camera access for my class. Not all that much to show in pictures anyway. We insulated the rear inner fender wells, the rear cargo floor and the spare tire pit. I steam cleaned the...

    Turbo kit for a 6.2?

I haven't looked this week, but there were a number of Banks 6.2 diesel kits for sale on Ebay a few weeks ago. Banks has been sending out emails and alerts for about 5 years now saying they will stop making the 6.2 kit. Maybe they finally did.

    RPM Red line for 6.2L

The injection pump has a governor in it. It will slow down sending fuel when it reaches a set rpm. Who knows what each of ours is set it until we try bouncing it off of the setting. I don't know about you, but I cringe at the thought of just holding down the pedal to see where the engine will...

    well thats not fun

Kenny, I mentioned I was thinking about selling the Gasser M35 the other day and my wife said I couldn't. "You put too much work into that truck to just let someone else drive it away." Kind of shocked me. Back on topic. They will be hard to find and expensive until you finally get one and...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

For me, I only want a 24V starter. Everything else being 12 volt is much more practical in my opinion. I have been on a few MV convoy/trail drives where someone has a 24 volt truck with some kind of "box" giving 12 volts to some things. They break, they short out and then the truck is stuck...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

1996 to 1999 6.5 trucks had the dual thermostat coolant cross over, the HO 130 gallon water pump and as NDT pointed out, the option for dual alternators. Search for 6.5 diesel dual alternator install and you will get all kinds of hits. That was my prime motive behind getting the engine from...

I am not aware of any empty vehicles headed your way. PM me here or on the Zone so we can figure stuff out.

    Gas powered deuce performance

Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner. There are several Gasser M35 owners on this site. I think we all pretty much have the same driving experience. Accelerate like a 13,000 pound 1950 truck, thunder down the road up to and even over 60 mph, don't say "hill" near the truck or you loose 5-10...

    M725 engine and trans cost/availability

One locked up. 3 running when pulled. I know one of the runners had a rear main seal leak because that is why I pulled it. The other engine was supposed to run when pulled but I never even tried turning the crank. I think there are at least 2 carbs, 2 or 3 fuel pumps and brackets for si...

I do still have them. I also have access to a loader again too. I am not headed to the left coast with a trailer anytime soon though. PM me if you have some ideas.

    Engine shuts off

Try hitting the throttle with it at idle and letting off right away. Just a quick stab and release. It will probably die. Same with holding an rpm around 1500-2000 and letting off in a hurry. Pretty much play with it and you will probably find a way you can repeatedly make it die. Those are...

    Transmission issues

I agree that a different controller and wiring harness is a must. However, a hidden cost here is your year transmission. The early 4L80E years had a different wiring harness plug and such inside the transmission than all the later years. Talk to the shop about that.

    M1031 speedometer woes

Used speedometer swapping was a sport I played for many years. 2 of my 3 daily driven square body trucks now have steady and accurate speedometers. We broke down and bought a new LMC unit for the other one. It has never been steady or accurate. I got to where I would chuck the speedometer...

    Serpentine belt conversion

1988 was the first year for the 6.2 to have a serpentine belt. 1993 and 1994 6.5 trucks had a tach sender as part of the oil pump drive at the rear top of the engine. 1995 and newer used the alternator for the factory tach signal. 1996 is also when they started offering the dual alternator 12...
