Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

As for the Hollander's, you can find them at a decent heavy-truck salvage yard, or sometimes a very good auto parts store (NOT one of the national chains). One of our local NAPAs has a couple of great countermen who really know their stuff & how to find what you need. Most of the salvage yards...

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

Sounds like you need to make friends with someone who has access to some Hollander interchange manuals, and source a used or rebuilt unit from one.

    Show us your Military Trailers

My recently converted M105A2 trailer...converted to 12-volt LEDs, 2-inch-ball hydraulic surge brakes (no air), former Deuce splash shields with custom-cut mudflaps, fully DOT-compliant. Just got the cargo cover re-installed; the nylon ropes attached to the cover were dry-rotted, so I cut them...

Civilian tires on original M416 rims... need help.

What quickfarms said. When it comes to military tires, I only go to heavy-duty truck tire shops since they are used to working with lock rings and tubes/flaps. They'll be able to help you better than any automotive tire shop. For instance, I typically go to our local Ted Wiens Firestone store...

Torque Rod/Dogbone Replacement, the easy way

Later versions of TM list this size as 1-7/16" (just a shade under 1-1/2" I noticed as I put a 1-1/2" open-end wrench on the nuts on my truck, and there was a little play).

    pimp my ride (er trailer?)

Very nice, as you say, these trailers really take well to modifications. I've really become attached to my M105A2s and even those really take well to modifications. My quad is so large it won't fit between the M101-series wheelwells (not even the A3), but sure fits good in an M105! Nice work!

Ran when parked or I'm going to restore them one day

Perfect advice for guys just trying to make it through their career without becoming scapegoats for their limp-wrist administrators. Let's fire all folks who actually do the work & are caught in the middle, and leave in place the gutless administrators who s**t all over working folks. Perfect...

let see your first gulf war deuce

Nice Deuce you have there. How was Beltring? I've heard those are pretty enjoyable.

Don't know, I just assumed that different companies were manufacturing either new for manufacturers or replacement parts under license.

M1102 from Barstow to Sacramento. Logistic help!

I'd rather chew crushed glass than to ever have to suffer I-5 again. 99 is the easy choice.

    Fix for a leaky FDC?

The FDC was already bypassed (done by Tooele Depot in Utah) in my truck, and I was thinking about putting in new O-rings & re-sealing everything before I reconnect it. I plan on running 90% filtered WMO/UMO & 10% diesel.... But what I am to understand is that even with that heavy of a...

    Where are the Deuce's?

Everything...all the up-armored vehicles from Iraq & Afghanistan, if a friendly nation doesn't want them, then they get cut up for scrap under guard. The Feds & most state bureaucrats are terrified of up-armored trucks falling in the hands of us dangerous civilian types. Soon enough you'll see...

    Back from Afghanistan

Good job, welcome home, and that's a gorgeous GSD in the middle photo! [thumbzup] ETA: Don't forget to spend plenty of time with your wife...keep her happy & you'll be able to do what you want with that Deuce. Your deployed time away from her was most likely harder for her than for you...

    Find the right Deuce

Might want to consider buying one from one of the dealers advertising on this site, or fellow members. That way it's been refurbished (since you're not mechanically inclined) and they can help you with any issues you might have in the future. I bought mine from a private party for a steal...

M1102 from Barstow to Sacramento. Logistic help!

Actually, my bad on the SF-97...I forgot that it could take 4-6 weeks to process, meanwhile you're expected to pick up the items first. Go to your DMV office & inquire as to what is needed for a temporary movement permit (TMP). If you're going to keep one (or both) of those trailers, then the...

M1102 from Barstow to Sacramento. Logistic help!

I'm trying to split these thoughts into different posts so you won't have to bore yourself while skimming through them. An important reason for hiring Hundy to transport your trailers to you (most likely with his dually pickup & gooseneck trailer): do you have a spare 37"-tall tire on an 8-lug...

M1102 from Barstow to Sacramento. Logistic help!

If the TMP won't happen, then I highly suggest taking Hundy (100DollarMan) up on his offer to help remove/store/transport these trailers for you. He'll bend over backwards to help you & you'll be glad you did. I'd also suggest as others did earlier: for a fee, talk Hundy into transporting...

M1102 from Barstow to Sacramento. Logistic help!

You might be able to get a temporary movement permit once you get the SF97, but the way the CA DMV operates these days, they will probably want to mail it to you & you'll get it in the mail about 6 months after. But go to your local DMV office anyway, maybe they will have good news for you. If...
