This one was slated to be cutup for the axles

Are you planning on using it as a water transport/brush fire truck? I am sure it does great in low range, even with that hulking tank in the back! 1000 gallons give you some endurance for grass fires, 20 mins or so with that inch and a half, depending how much continuous spray you need. That...

    M35A2 Steering Slop

Can't argue with a logical and detailed walk-through. That's really helpful.

    Alternator upgrading

I highly recommend the bolt-in alternator upgrade that Wolverine sells. http://wolverinetechnologiesllc.com/AlternatorKitM35M54.html Put it in mine - very happy.

    Starter Relay help

Prestolite WSE-4101A 24V DC 50 Amps Ord. No: 19207-6183391 NSN: 5945-00-636-8779 MFR: 7E656 Wow, that is one pricey little sucker! It is only a 50A relay. Perhaps it would be a good idea to identify current alternatives for this part. Something like this could be made to fit: At $45 a bit...

    Info needed with Turn signals

If you decide you do have a bad flasher unit, please search for the threads detailing how to make one out of readily available components. The replacement military units are not terribly reliable...

    Can M35A3's runaway?

Just for illustration purposes: Air intake volume = displacement * RPM. So, for a multi accelerating past governed speed to 3000 rpm it would be 0.275 cu ft * 3000 = 825 cu ft of air per minute or almost 14 cu ft per second. For my metric friends, that is over 23000 l/min or almost 400 l/s...

    M49a2c into a water truck

Experts will chime in but I remember reading that the M50 water tanker was stainless steel whereas the M49 fuel tanker was stainless or mild steel.

    M108 deuce wrecker engine swap

Given the production dates of these cranes, I find it truly amazing that stuff like this still pops up. Are all of these hoses easily changeable once the truck is fully assembled? What I am gett ing at is that, if there is a hose that would be a real PITA to change, that is the one that one...

    Torque rods kicking my butt

You certainly have the tenacity needed to wrestle 40 year old mechanics into submission! Glad you are on your way to finally finish the job.

A really satisfying Ooops! or..just stupidity.

And it still ran...with THAT? Impressive.

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

A 6.6 liter Duramax weighs about 850 lbs, give or take. An LDT/LDS 465 weighs about 1800-1900 lbs. Quite the difference! Cast aluminium vs. cast iron.

Howdy all, New guy here. With a question, go figure :)

I read the list of your trucks out loud and my wife commented from the background "This guy cannot possibly be married!". Be it as it may - pictures of the rest of the herd would be nice!

1953 “gasser” deuce build thread/ adventure

If they think its awesome, the more important consequence is that you, the dad, that buys and drives it, is immensely cool. Priceless. :-)

    Deuce fuel tank dimensions...

The fuel pump attachment is adjustable - you can lower the pump and it will pick up from a lower level, having more useable fuel. Under normal, civy conditions, without fuelling up from cruddy jerrycans etc., that is probably perfectly fine, especially when you make sure that the bottom of the...
