    IP leaking on my m35a2

Agree, you need to pinpoint where it comes from. Pay attention to the center hex plug between the injection lines and to anything that looks like a cracked hydraulic head. Also 3 o-rings that get old and brittle (fuel shutoff , easy; head to body , harder as head needs to come off). Sent from...

    Electrical issues on my deuce

Also consider building your own flasher module if you find that the replacement one dies after a short while. Instructions here.

    Multifuel Deuce heads 11252017

You are not alone! I have a set stored in original boxes in my garage as well....and can't just throw them away. Any good machine shop can measure the sealing surface for straightness and plane them, if needed. Removing a small amount of metal is usully enough (see TM for limits). Many heads...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I filled up the tank, put diesel fuel conditioner in and parked Queen Lola for the winter in her heated, shared accommodation. Plenty of other, lesser, vehicles there to talk to, on long winter nights. Snow is here, so she won't be on the road until the salt is gone! Also put a new set of Group...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

 Dude, you did the right thing! Good for you! That was quite the find in the classifieds. The engine containers weigh as much as the engines do!

    Trans fluid treatment

Put on a helmet. Plenty of threads regarding tranny lube and as many opinions. I have had 80W/90 in it and it worked. I upgraded the overdrive and now run a no frills 40W, as specified by the overdrive vendor. Shifts great. The military, like any large fleet, likes to standardize to simplify the...

Emissions Issues and Accelerator Pedal Stop

Also, do not forget that your multifuel can run on fuels other than diesel. I went to my emissions test (long story) with a tank full of regular gasoline. Much less smoke. Note that it is YOU who tells the DMV that this truck is a Diesel powered vehicle. Says who? It could equally be a gas...

    Turbo Questions

Here is the info about the studs: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?151122-Exhaust-manifold-stud

    Turbo Questions

Nah..the studs rust and then snap off. It is a bit of a pain with the manifold installed but basically you drill them out. If you can drill through what's left of the stud, leaving only a thin layer of stud behind, you have a chance to get the piece out without damaging the threads. If you have...

    Rear seal replacemnt

Put it together, drive it and check hub temperatures. If you cannot touch and leave your bare hand on the hub after a good drive, it is too hot. If it isn't and the bearing is adjusted correctly, don't worry about it.

    Torque Rod Ends

There is only one justification. The truck is my hobby. Otherwise I could never justify buying 1.5k in parts and assorted stuff to refresh a $600 multifuel that goes into a $4500 truck. And then adding $1000 in torque rod ends. And...and...and. At the end of the day, we are all a little crazy...

    Torque Rod Ends

I usually struggle with my default "thrift" setting. In this case, rationale prevailed and I am glad I put in the better parts. It is the same amount of labour, after all. I am still amazed at how much calmer the rear end is, going over bad roads. I had experimented with lower air pressure...

    Torque Rod Ends

If you are not put off by the higher cost, there are upgraded torque rod ends available as well. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?67703-What-did-you-do-to-your-deuce-this-week/page744 Post #7439

    Request M35A2 Retrieval info

Careful with that. The MSD for my can of Prestone Starting Fluid says: 40-70% ethyl ether, 25-40% heptane (a hydrocarbon) and the balance is CO2. So, yes, it is not 100% ethyl ether, but a whopping amount is. My point was just that the ether injection system delivers a metered dose that is...

    Request M35A2 Retrieval info

The military replaced the flame heater with an ether kit. You can actually use the flame heater switch to operate the ether injection solenoid. It provides a minimal, exactly metered dose of ether (as opposed to the huge amounts of "starting spray" humans would unload into the intake). If you...

Where to get new injectors or rebuild kit?

Well, there is a big machine company in China that makes AMBAC compatible parts. http://www.chinahanji.com/01_hd90100.htm I used their hydraulic head (works) and their injector nozzles (work) on an LDT-465. Someone here with more technical knowledge bench tested the assemblies and they checked...

    Got another Deuce! ('70)

Yup, beware of the "while I am in there...." ideas. An engine swap can become an engine refresh that way. Ask me how I know..... Use caution! Just fix what needs to be fixed. And maybe do an upgrade while you are in there! :-)
