Thanks for the help guys. The 003 is back together and in it's corner of the barn waiting on a blizzard.
i'll be back to bother you all in a week or so when i get time to work on the 002!
I think i did it right. On the fuse leads, when i touched the leads of the meter, it read 5.2 amp,,then quickly, within 1 second,,went down to 4.3 then steadied up at about 3.9. Good? Bad? Ugly?
All done. All ten fingers still on my hand. New mounts and new ground strap all bolted in.
The only thing that sucks is ,,now i have to go back to working on electrical. I'll go read Triple Jims instructions again. Tommorrow.
Im off to buy a bunch of new bolts. I broke all the battery frame bolts and hurt a couple of mount bolts getting the first mount off,,so i'll just go get all new bolts before hardware closes today. I found my ground strap was broken, so i need one of those too. I hope that solves some problems...
I am off to work on my 003. Will that oil pan support the genny with jack under it,,or will it bust? Is there an easy trick to replacing the isolators on the feet? Looks like unbolt and rebolt, but gotta support the genny and motor so i dont cut my hands off.
I think it charges too,,,the original problem was the gauge working then not working,,,still not fixed since i got off track,,,.
I will still check per post 18 though, since cover is off.
I guess i do not know how to measure the output. I am needing to measure amps?
I will look at my meter tonite when i get home to see if there is a setting for that.
Looks like it does charge. If you wait a few minutes after it is started, the voltage on batteries comes up very slowly. I have the cover off of the flywheel. I am thinking the stator should be replaced or at least cleaned since its output numbers are very low. True?
Whew! I have to work 12 hours today, but will try to understand and do this sunday. I am almost beat right now and still have a couple hours to go. Hopefully it will make sense after i stare at the schematics and the cabinet!
Yes, with the end cover off, i was able to test voltage on both connectors on back of fuse holder. Both show 27.3 volt so juice is flowing thru the fuse.
I traced it into the cabinet. From there i am lost unless i cut all of the wire ties and make a mess. Anyone know where the red wire from the regulator connects in the cabinet?
While trying to be an electrician,,,i noticed all 4 of my mounts with the rubber on each side are junk. The gen and motor have dropped about 2 inches thru the mounts as the rubber is not connected any more. Can these be had?
Took off the cover and did the charging system troubleshoot. Batteries fresh off maintainer.
batteries not running- 25.7vdc
Red wire- 25.6v
batteries running 25.7v
red wire running- 27.2v
leads from flywheel running- 23.2vac
stator is bad? Why would voltage go to 27.2 on red wire but not...
Sometimes when i start my 003a, the batt guage does not move, so i shut it back off and restart. That usually fixes it and it shows the batteries charging. Now today, no matter how many times i restart, the guage stays all the way to left,,,dead.
I am off to try toubleshooting with the...
