Hub Studs Sheared Off - Wrecker - Texas

I can't believe I had a chance to help somebody and wasn't able to. Fuzzy left me a voice mail during my Scout meeting. I couldn't get to it until the meeting was over. Almost as soon as I listened to the voice mail Jeepsinker called. He was just 20 minutes away in the freezing rain. I...

    Fuel gage Accuracy

I have 3 square bodies currently and have owned many in the past. Figure 3/4 indicated as about 1/2 tank actual and 1/2 tank indicated as about 1/4 tank actual. I normally get real nervous about finding fuel as soon as I get to 1/2 tank indicated because it drops fast from that point on.

    M1009 Runaway run-on starter

I had the exact same thing happen to a rebuilt 27MT. It had a new solenoid too. It wasn't a Delco though and it stuck on. Just like with the lift pumps. If it isn't a Delco or US made, it probably isn't worth putting on your truck.

    Question about starting my M1009

There could also be nothing wrong. A normal functioning CUCV glow plug/cold advance/fast idle system works off the two sensors at the back of the engine. The fast idle/cold advance sensor on the outside of the passenger rear head sends power to those two solenoids when it senses the coolant...

    Which spin on filter mod?

I have 3 of the sets ups Chris is selling. Great stuff. However, whatever you end up getting. Check out the filters that fit it, how much they cost and if they are a number carried on the shelf of most auto part stores. Having a non stocked filter that has to be ordered a week in advance...

    ign key switch

I have replaced the key cylinder and the ignition switch on my 1984 USAF Suburban. It is still hard to turn when cold. I didn't grease the cog in side the column but will the next time it is apart. Check all three and if nothing says "I am the bad part!", lube everything is my suggestion.

    Looking at my first 715

I'm glad you posted that Don. I didn't want to call you out by name unless you knew about it.

    Looking at my first 715

I totally agree about parts for the 230. It was cheaper for me to build a high power 396 big block than fix the oil leaks on my 230. I know your reply was not directed totally at me. I am going to reply though by saying that I qualified my suggestions several times as meant for a truck...

    Looking at my first 715

I will throw in with BOB on this one too. The stock 230 is a great engine for what the M715 was designed to do. Move 1-1/4 tons of stuff off road at speeds up to 30-45 mph. The truck and the engine are matched very well to do that intended job in a great way. If you were to attempt driving...

    Gen 1 playing up....Grrrrrr

Needing the lights on means voltage regulator to me. Same with no charge. The new alternator acting the same means something between the alternator and the rest of the truck is off. Have you checked the contacts for both alternator relays? Along with the relays themselves maybe. Another odd...

    Paragraph separation

Not that I am aware of. The IT people treat everything they do as a secret and don't answer questions most of the time. I always thought it was because they didn't know the answers.

GAUGE ISSUE (oil & coolant temp)

Just to be clear after Joe and Kenny both said it. There is 1 maybe 2 wires that are the same between a civilian full gauge panel and a CUCV panel. Civilian idiot light panels are another totally seperate wiring set up from the gauge panel and CUCV panel. If the big plug for the gauge panel...

i have the a/a button now at work. I didn't change anything on my end. However, it all works good again. Just wanted to put a cap on this thread. Thanks.

I think my transmission is smoked?!?!

A dry modulator just means it isn't leaking fluid. Checking the function of it is how you check it.

    ground hop question

Don't forget to wire up some glow plug wires. No glow plugs, no start. I use remote starter buttons for the glow plug power and starter. Here is a video of me firing up a 6.2 in my class a year or so ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eK7l7ejjGu0

I had to try a post from home so I can see the a/a button. I have it at home and now know what you are talking about. If you don't mind, I will keep playing just to see once I get back to work.

    tranny no shift from 2-3

I guess you already left, but if not. Pull the 4 bolts that hold the governor cover, pull it off and remove the governor. Move the arms and make sure the plunger inside them is moving free. Put it all back together and see if it is better.

No. Don't worry about it anymore. I am supposed to get an upgrade in the next month or two. Thanks again.

I feel like I am being a pest here. That isn't my intent and thank you for the time and effort to help me out so far.
