Congrats.
Yes, my son won the M1028 with 18K miles. He is waiting for the confirmation email to get his paperwork going.
We were looking at the one that you picked up as well, but decided on the one with the good lookin' shell (and 18K miles).
I think my son just snagged an M1028 with just over 18K miles on it (in running condition) from a gov't auction.
There was a choice between the 1028 (with 18K miles) and an M1008 (with 56K miles).
He went for the 1028 because it had fewer miles on it and it had a camper shell.
Going to try the breaker bar again while tapping with hammer. Needed to get a 3/8" drive breaker bar so it could go in direct (no extension).
Soaked it all last night in Penetrating oil. More penetrating oil on it this morning.
Hopefully this works. . .
Good question Blood . . . yes, lefty loosy (counter clockwise).
Still trying but will most likely use the vent tube method.
rabrownmk, where might one get a diff plug tool?
The rear diff filler plug in my CUCV is really stuck. I have rounded over two 3/8" extensions in attempts to get it out. (I have used almost a full large can of the super liquid wrench, tapped it with a hammer, . . . ).
Any other tricks?
Anybody know the part number for a replacement plug...
Thanks to everyone who has posted on this thread. As my past posts can attest, this M1009 has some electrical issues. I am slowly working through them replacing wires, etc. Unfortunately, I am not 'electrically inclined'.
Mystery Solved!!
It turned out that the forward battery was bad...
I've never done that before, but OK.
Just to make sure I understand correctly, short the solenoid on the top of the starter. I do this with the key on.
Am I correct?
Just got the voltmeter readings from my son.
Battery side of the Terminal Bus (triangle on firewall) 12.5 (drops to 11.5 with key on)
Solenoid side of Terminal Bus 12.5 (drops to 11.3 with key on)
Soleniod side A [connected to terminal bus) : 12.5
Soleniod side b : 1 volt (clicking)...
Well its that type of year, getting dark early and getting stormy.
After leaving my lights on (for several hours), my M1009 wont start. I turn on electrical power and the solenoid has this wierd clicking sound. Battery only shows middle to top of yellow.
Here are the facts:
- Tried to jump...
Thanks to this thread and Harbor Freight Tools , I was able to get my M1009 running in tip top shape again.
Turns out that the power steering bracket was broken in two places (looks like one of them had been fixed before).
I ended up buying a bracket from the Local Chevy Dealership...
I found the Performance Tool (W87022) GM power steering pulley puller/installer tool at ebay and a couple of other places. Is this all that is necessary to do the job? Do these mount in some other type of tool?
I came across this thread while searching for how to fix my power steering pump bracket.
I read through the -20 and step 8-15.1.4 says "remove power steering pulley".
I have never made this type of repair before. Can someone explain in detail how to remove the pulley and what tools are...
Michael, Thanks for the info . . .
I wish all it needed was a good cleaning. One of the posts has the threads stripped so getting a good connection is intermittant. Its been having intermittant problems.
CCATLETT1984, Yep, I guess I just didn't think of it as a triangle.
Do either...
