I have a little electrical problem with my M1009.
I keep having problems getting a good connection in the vicinity of the fusible link. Does anyone know what the part number is for part that has the two bolt posts that the fusible link attaches to?
My Son (a Junior in Hight School) drives my blazer daily. To answer your questions:
1. He gets about 19-21mpg
2. We've had a couple of issues, nothing really big. This is my first diesel, so the learning curve is pretty steep.
3. For alternate fuels it is pretty good overall, assuming you...
I agree.
When I turn on the car now, no solenoid clunk. It is a civvy converted model (yeah, I know  ) and I just replaced the controller. So its back under the hood with my lil' multimeter.
In the warmth of the afternoon, it was a little difficult to start, but it started. Drove it down and filled up with diesel fuel. Ran fine.
Now the wait light (and associated sounds) isn't working (again). Darn Gremlins just keep jumping around.
I live in Los Angeles and my 86 M1009 is having problems.
Here is what it is doing:
- The wait light comes on and turns off like it should (you hear the electric 'clunk').
- The engine cranks (plenty of charge indicated) just fine.
- About 1/4 tank of fuel.
- The engine 'started' (big plume of...
Well after ttracing all of the wires in the system with a friend of mine, it turns out that the civvy relay (pictured above) was 'dead'.
NAPA auto just happened to have one in stock. Swapped it out.
Runs like a champ now! :D
I have now included a printout of the Civvy conversion article...
Thank you very much. Pictures of the glow plug module under the dash, I guess.
I'm not quite sure what it means when it says :
Also, where do you get a momentary on switch? (and what type)
I have read (and re-read, . . . ) the sticky article.
Does anyone have any pictures of the Manual Glow Plug Install Fix?
I am not quite understanding what needs to be done.
I found the controller card box. It had been 'relocated' to just the other side of the ash tray. Don't ask me.
I pulled the controller card. It looked fine. I used an eraser to 'clean' the contacts. I plugged it in and it worked!
However, this morning, it isn't working again...
There doesn't seem to be a black box OR a controller card at all. It may already be bypassed.
Normally when the ignition switch is turned on, the WAIT light comes on then after a short time there is kind of a hum(like a dull winding down sound) then a click/clunk (and the WAIT light goes out)...
I don't think its the light.
I checked the fuses, they were fine.
I tried to go throught the TM troubleshooting steps, but it looks like the glow plug module is different from pictured. (it is a big white thing under the hood attached to the firewall)
When I turn on the ignition, I don't...
Re: RE: No "WAIT" light - HELP!
No sound from the relay.
Couldn't find the section in the TM prior to posting. Found it now.
Going to check the fuses.
If it isn't the fuses, what do I use for a jumper wire and how would I ground it?
I have an '86 M1009.
The Blazer has been running like a top. Worked fine yesterday. This morning, the wait light wouldn't come on. (I live in So. Cal. Temp this morning was in the mid 50s).
The glow plugs, fuel filter, and injector pump were replaced in Dec.
Batteries were replaced in Oct...
