:?: My switch is like the type shown in the above post (and below, if my upload works) - where the blackouts are on the left, and running lamps on the right.
It might not be legible at this resolution - but from L to R the Main (top) switch positions are: BO DRIVE; BO MARKER; OFF; STOP LIGHT...
Camping in your tuxedo?
Uh - don't want to sound stupid, but exactly where in JV was it held last year? That's a pretty big area - the few times I've gone out there it was to collect meteorites.
Doghead and 50shooter have pretty much laid it out - but I would simplify Doghead's post, and expand 50shooter's to this:
The lower right lever is just used to unlock the others - rotate counter-clockwise (up) to release either of the other two. For daytime driving, rotate the top lever 1...
Hotchkiss was a French company that made MB style jeeps and spare parts for the French gov't from 1955-1966 under license of Willys. They also put together jeeps using a combination of surplus Willys and Ford parts, combined with Hotchkiss-built spares. Those ones are called "Hotchpotch" jeeps.
My Goat came out of Pendleton - and I can attest to the fact that it came to me in US Winter MERDC pattern (as reported above). When I have had to touch up, it's been a simple matter of copying right over the existing scheme, using the same colors. I did replace my tailgate with a NOS one...
It will be interesting to watch your progress - keep us up to date! I've always liked the style of the M715 fenders and bed, compared to the civie Gladiator. My son has had several early Cherokee and Gladiator projects - but I believe he would trade in a heartbeat for a solid M715.
FRS and GMRS radios can be pretty handy - You should point out though, that when operating on the GMRS frequencies that are not shared with FRS channels, you need to be licensed. A single station license will make you legal, talking to members of your immediate family, or to other licensed...
That was my Goat. It made it onto the front page of several newspapers, and into the local (California) evening news. I had it on display lighted up for only one day, for a Christmas picture for our club website (gamagoat.com). A local "tweaker" stole it, and we recovered it the next day - but...
Here's one:

Sorry - I couldn't resist - This was a black-and-white photo of me and one of my trucks in Germany about 1973 - so the MERDC paint was definitely fresh. I must have helped paint a hundred...
Rapco has just about all the MERDC (as well as WWII) colors you would need - available by UPS (internet or phone order). They sell Gillespie paint - which I've personally found to be much more weather-resistant than the more commonly available Airvoe paint. For some reason - the Airvoe tends to...
The part is readily available from any electronic supply house - Digikey, etc. You could probably even pick them up at Radio Shack. Like any electronic part, you might need a little guidance using it, unless you're an electronic hobbyist, a Ham Radio Operator or a technician.
Don't know what's...
You need to buy yourself a Gama Goat.
Seriously - the engineering work that had to go into a roadworthy 'trailer' that is capable of providing drive power is considerable. Be happy with the traction and the simplicity of maintenance that you enjoy with your deuce. If you have trouble...
The 7812 is a simple voltage regulator IC in a TO-220 package. It looks like a transistor with a hole in it for mounting, and has only 3 leads - input, output, and ground. You ground one pin, put anywhere from 14-32 volts into one end, and 12 volts comes out the other end. It has to be properly...
There are a couple of ways I can think of to do that. One way would be to build a little module with a 3-terminal regulator like a 7812 in line with each 24V circuit, to drop each line to 12V as it is needed. 7812's are good for around 1.5A each - so you would have to keep the load on each...
Here are links to a few pictures of the adapter box. Like I said - nothing fancy. The SOG and my fat hand are in there for scale.

I could snap a photo in the morning - I'm a little too lazy to drive out to the back of my property tonight, and dig through my conex box - but I have to be there tomorrow. It's nothing fancy - just the 2 connectors mounted in the box, and wired up pretty much as shown above. How hard is it to...
Just caught this post - Is the "dirtbag" camp going to be open to all mil vehicles - or is this a Deuce-only event?
It's so close by, I'd be interested in attending - but I wouldn't be able to make it April 7-12 - as I'll be playing salesman for our Scorpion rock-crawlers (and playing on the...
