That's what I was thinkin, cuz I can hold my hand on the pan, the cooler and the filter and it for certain didn't feel like 250 cuz that is some hot fluid! I don't have a hand held temp gun but I got a friend who does, guess I will see what that tells me.....thanks for the help guys, I will...
Jeez, your temps are at 180ish?!? Wish mine ran like that.....
Like i stated, I flushed the cooler and coolant system completely out, used simple green and super hot water. Changed both the pan filter and the spin on. Added fresh fluid which is Amsoil universal ATF, good stuff, basically...
What temperature should the Allison 5 speeds in these trucks typically run at?? Either my gauge is wrong or 250-275 is normal.
I bought the truck not too long ago and did a full maintenance job on it. Cooling system was very corroded from the previous owner running straight water. Trans...
This is what I am wondering from your reply.....can I just disconnect the solenoid altogether?? I would rather not have a lockout on it and I want to b able to eliminate it if possible.
I tried the rolling slowly and the shift lever won't budge at all, it feels like it slightly disengages but...
Just found a couple other threads on moving slowly in neutral and shifting like you mentioned, gonna try that once I get the maintenance finished up and ready for the trails. If that doesn't work I will try the linkage adjustment and maybe that will pull the actuator better to get it into low...
So I am hoping you guys can help me out.....new to the site still and new to recently purchased '84 M923A1. I have done a search and couldn't find much but I did see a thread that had this subject going but it had no more replies.
I just can't get my truck to shift into low range at all. The...
So I have been servicing my 84 M923 is bought and got to the fuel filter today.....not too happy about it. Check out the pics I attached but I guess I'm gonna try n clean up the canister as best I can and run it. Any suggestions?? Should I bite the bullet and look for a new canister??
Thanks...
Got everything greased up but having trouble getting to the zerks on the propeller shaft between the transmission and transfer case. Do you guys usually just remove it to access those zerks on the u-joints? Thats a tight fit in there!
Joe
I just found out I have this problem as well. Got my "new" M923 all washed up today and went to shift into low to try it out and the lever wouldn't budge. I found a wire that looked shredded all to ****, so gonna try and fix that but a interested to find out more about this "lockout." So...
So what kind of grease do u guys use on your 5 tons?? I did a search n couldn't find much, and the TMs just issue a MIL number which I have no idea what type it is, just don't wanna mix as that can be bad which I'm sure most are aware. Do u guys use the same for bushings and ball joints as u...
Thanks for the reply.....yeah, I saw that in a previous post on this thread, I looked real hard on mine and don't see any placard that states it is forfitted with Detroit's so I guess my recent investment of USMC axles with my M923 purchase was well worth it.
I was informed when I just bought my M923 this weekend that due to it being an Army version it does not have the lockers. The guy informed me that only the USMC versions do, hence my interest in this post......any truth to the Army versions not equipped with lockers??
