Good location for the LED lights!

    Unbearable heat blowing into cab

I second that, after a, thankfully stunned and dazed, hornet in my lap! I am glad the driver side window was only slightly opened, accounting for the hornet's headache.

    Queen Lola earning her keep

Unloading at a dump site; rental skid steer at my place. At $300 a day I only had it for a day!

    Queen Lola earning her keep

Preparing to pour concrete for the new shed...and backfilling for old concrete stairs and patio I dug out beside the house. I did three loads, about 3-4 tons each. Loading with the skidsteer was fun, but unloading sand and concrete chunks with the blood pressure hydraulics (me and a shovel/rake)...

When to Engage Front Wheel Drive

I was not aware of this detail. I have lockout hubs, so I never noticed, I guess.

    leaks on axles

No, they stick closed. The axle housing builds pressure, simply by becoming warm in operation, ambient temperature etc. and then gear lube is forced out through whatever gives way first - usually an axle seal.

    Can't mod the driver

Nice use of the Cdn M135 as a recovery vehicle! As far as side slopes are concerned, this thread might be useful: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?114919-M35A2-wo-w-maximum-safe-side-drive-angle

    Can't mod the driver

Amen to that. I cringe when people brag how much punishment and abuse these trucks can take, or see Deuces submerged in mud and water. What could possibly keep a Deuce healthier than milky gunk in the drive train and hubs? It is a great way to learn about the difference between having the hulk...

    importing a deuce to canada!

Same here. Been there, done that. If you need help, just ask.

    Memorial day photo shoot!

There was a Deuce in the picture?? Did't notice

Finally coming to fruition!! Getting a Deuce!

Looks like a brother to my Deuce. Fiberglass racks and drop sides, winch and hard top - you scored. Good luck with the recovery!

    Arctic bed heater

This is great! Just before you freeze to death in the cab in the winter you can climb up back and warm up!

Just Got My Deuce, and of course a few new questions.

Alternator: depends; if you have shop in your area that can do it, ask for a quote. Also consider replacing stock alternator with a modern type alternator, maybe even go dual 24/12V. Do a search - ready made brackets available for both options. TM America on this site makes bracket kits to bolt...

Not enough eights there! 5/8! The thicker one!

    Wire rope replacement

5 tons have a 3/8 cable, 21/2 tons a 1/2 inch. Not sure if you can make that fit safely. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?5408-winch-cable-end-replacement-instructions http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?56347-winch-cable-end-help

    winch operation

If you have never operated the winch before, my recommendation would be to check the winch over, before you do anything else. 1) drum lock - engage/disengage 2) winch clutch - engage-disengage; does the flip lock work? 3) can you pull wire off; does the winch drum freespool? 4) open the fill...

IP problem with my new Deuce...need advice

IMHO it would be a shame to dismantle an otherwise good truck for parts. I understand that the joy of ownership is somewhat tainted right now. Even if you do not want to mess with that engine anymore (for example, because after this, you just would not trust it anymore), consider pulling the...

is a bobbed deuce a practical daily driver?

Mine has a muffler, Humvee seats, front lockouts and is singled on 11.00-20 Goodyears - and I still would not want to use it as a daily driver. Part of why I love driving my truck is that I hardly ever HAVE to get anywhere with the clock ticking. If I want to, spur of the moment, turn into that...

Convoy Light installation with a soft top question..

Exhaust clamp brackets from your favourite tractor supply store. They come with varying spacer thickness.

 Awaiting sound of multifuel idling..... hoping for a good update!
