    M275 Towing Pics

This is a good looking rig. How do the mechanics of the trailer work, compared to modern designs (size and capacity aside)?

    Midwinter Winterization

Well, clearly, you need to paint the chequered lid in OD green, then it will work better. Also, cut the intake hose at a sharp angle (so it cannot become blocked when it rests in the angle between the jar bottom and the wall).

    GSA deuce here at last

Good score. Re-fitting a winch won't be too demanding - all the expensive parts are still there! Keep us posted with photo updates!

    What Is This ?

Did the rigs see service in Europe (Germany)? It could be a unit modification - maybe their mechanics saw the setup on German trucks and how well it worked in the winter and decided to give it a go?

:popcorn:It is always educational to follow a troubleshooting thread

How is the restauration coming along?

    deuce running hot?

The only thing the t-stat does is keeping the circuit through the rad mostly closed when the engine is cold. So, running without the t-stat is not an issue; under normal circumstances the truck would run cool (cooling system running at maximum cooling capacity all the time). People drive them...

    Austrian Military Convoy

I can assure you that the MAN 40.440 is doing just fine with this trailer (a "true" trailer, not a semi trailer with dolly. The 8 axle trailer is manufactured by Goldhofer). A short clip with a better view from the rear is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9r72-oRj_A

Work on the War Pig continues

Revival of an old thread..I wonder if russ ever finished the war pig?

    Worst Trip Ever

And here I thought I was paranoid for always loading the tow bar when I venture farther than maybe 50km from home!! You certainly showed some dogged perserverance on that trip. Lesser men would have set the truck on fire and walked away.

    Blown Head Gasket

Yes, I have seen the bubbles in one of our fire trucks. Fill rad up so that you can see the surface of the coolant. Depending on how bad the leak is and how badly the rad shakes to start with, there will be more or less visible bubbling. A more accurate way can be had when you know someone with...

    Slow a towed Deuce?

Serves me right for taking a phone call before hitting the "send" button!

    Slow a towed Deuce?

The five tons have glad hands in the front and can be connected to the towing vehicle's service air circuit, activiating the towed vehicles brakes just like the driver would, by stepping on the brake pedal and activating the air support. For the deuce, you CAN activate the brakes in a similar...

Ways to make a deuce quieter and warmer in the cab.

Parking with the engine off does wonders for the decibel level in the cab. If you park in a heated garage, it is also nice and toasty in the cab. Sorry. Other than that, I got nothing.

About to start work on our Deuce

You, sir, are a hard-core planner! I bet you have at least two of most things, just in case! :-)

    Tarp for deuce

Would you mind posting a couple of pictures of this setup? Taller tarp would be good for my back!

    my first m35 purchase

Thumbs up for your progress. After getting her roadworthy in a muddy field, any subsequent repair work on a flat (yawwn) concrete pad (yaaaawwwn) under a roof (Zzzzzzzzzzz) will sound tremendously boring!

    Air wipers are not working

I can offer this repair thread. I have fixed several motors that still work fine. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?56882-Plastic-air-wiper-motors-repair-how-to

    M35 or M211 for a first deuce?

I read this as either pulling trees down or pulling cut tree trunks from A to B. The stock winch on the M35A2 is driven via drive shaft (as opposed to hydraulic on the A3) with an aluminum shear pin as the only safety feature. I like this winch and I think it is great for its intended use as a...

m49a2c wo/w that we are looking at buying

I believe in the right of everybody to do with their stuff what they want. I also believe that I should be an educated decision. I fully second clinto's suggestion. If you buy this truck for the price you mentioned (or better), clean it up and re-sell it, you might make some money off it. Get a...
