Peterson Mfg. has a nice copy of the FMVSS for lights:

As I read this, for an M101 you would need at a minimum two stop/tail/turn lights, one license lamp, amber and red side markers, and reflex reflectors at all locations.
I don't...
With as much demand as there is for clean 1/4 ton trailers, it is surprising more folks looking for a "Jeep Trailer" don't go for those new MD Juan MBT repro kits.
The price on them isn't really that high considering what it costs to purchase and rehab an original.
I believe you are correct; they do appear to be very similar or identical to Dodge M37/Powerwagon/W200 front leaft springs.
Thank you, that might make finding parts easier.
Anyone know if there is an automotive equivalent to the M101 series leaf springs?
I know that the 1/4 tons used Jeep hardware, just curious if the bigger brother was similar.
Thanks Mike
I was speculating that I could invert/reverse the axle to accomplish that without cutting or welding. Obviously it would require shorter shocks, no big deal.
Might even remove a leaf or two from the spring packs.
Well, I just won the auction and have to wait for the EUC. I suppose I would be open to trades once I have the trailer in hand.
Again, I want it lower and ideally ditch some weight. It may be a path of least resistance to simply switch the original axle to a spring-under position and run...
Good Day,
I am planning on swapping the axle and coupler on an M101a2 for standard utility trailer stuff.
Does anyone know the actual weight of the GI axle, hubs, coupler and surge brake hardware?
Getting the trailer a bit more manageable for my Jeeps is the goal.
