Thanks for the response CJ I am looking for someone with experience with the 5 ton trucks that could do mechanical trouble shooting and repair of minor (hopefully minor) issues Not sure about GA but in TX if it is registered as an RV or as a Farm truck (could be ether in my case) anyone can...

tool box in Corpus Christi TX to go north

Mike, I live near CC and could pick it up and get it off base to near Beeville, if it is not too big to put in my van. not sure if I can be of any help getting it any farther north, but could store it for a while until you get something worked out. Craig A Tull

    Atlanta Agent needed

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this but it seemed the closest I could find. I am considering the possibility of getting an "agent" to work on my behalf in the Atlanta area to help me acquire a M939A2 series truck, preferably a M923A2, this is not a formal position, I just need...

    M923 and SAND??

Well That M923A2 I was looking at will not be coming home with me, it was not even that nice and it went for more than any 923 I have been watching for the last 6 weeks or so, there were at least two pretty desperate parties out there, I will wait until the end of the year when most are trying...

    Show me your Bobbed M923

OK 350Tacozilla thanks for the tip do you have any photos of the chop job?, I have been looking around here and I have several scrap 2 1/2-3 ton (F600-700) trucks so I think getting some outboard springs as suggested by Brianmontesa will not be an issue.

    Show me your Bobbed M923

Well that may be, but down here they sell for more than the 923s given they can actually be used for something, besides I prefer the look of the bobbed drop side beds to the m105 type, also distance has some consideration to it, they are selling a bunch of all types in Louisiana but they seem to...

    M923 and SAND??

Can someone give me the serial number off of their MT-654 so I can go to "My Allison" and get all the build specs? Thanks

    Show me your Bobbed M923

Looking at some pictures it looks like the deuce has a straight steering shaft and the 923 has a flexible coupling with a much different steering wheel angle, looks like allot more room for my fat butt, did all A2s come with CTIS? the one I am looking at does not seem to have it..

    M923 and SAND??

I have another question, is there any more room between the steering wheel and the seat on the M923 than the M35A2? I am not very comfortable in the Deuce (read I am a big boy)

    Show me your Bobbed M923

Taco, what kind of bed are you using? (edit OK now I see, it is the 923 bed shortened, cool but don't think I can cut that strait LOL) Also guys I see allot of really nice rigs GREAT job folks, I have some questions about the springs/mounts needed to bob a 923A2 I have a couple scrapper M35A2s...

    M923 and SAND??

Thanks for the replies, I assume the A2 with it's smaller turbo engine would be more desirable and perhaps a little bit lighter on the front end, I see listings for that engine all the way to 400 HP so getting a little more juice should not be a problem if needed.

    M923 and SAND??

OK it looks like a pot load of M923A1s and A2s ETC. are comming out for sale and I was wondering how those 14.00s performed in sand, I assume they will do pretty good, but thought I would ask anyway. I have a Unimog fitted with 11.00-18s (Gama goat) NDs and the one and only time I ventured onto...

    Civilizing the MEP-002A

Metering and regulation As shown above I replaced everything on the generator side but the gen head itself, I did re-use the volt meter, the only good ol made in the USA military meters I could find that "fit" the bill was some 300A scaled 5A full scale meters, so I picked up some 30A/5A...

    Civilizing the MEP-002A

Fuel Lines This unit was abandoned for many years, the fuel tank was corroded out and like just about every MEP I see the fuel lines were petrified just waiting for the opportunity to crack and leak, most of the fittings on the MEP are AN-5, the return line is AN-4 same as JIC for all practical...

    Civilizing the MEP-002A

No problemo General, I am surprised how cheap these go for in some parts of the country, you could not get a cannibalized unit that was dropped from a helicopter then run over by a truck for $500.00 down here. Craig

Fuel filters Of course I wanted to replace the fuel filters with spin on filters, the primary filter is also a water separator and the secondary catches any small stuff that gets by the primary, I taped both discharge sides of the filter housings and installed drain cocks to aid in trouble...

Oil filter My late brother in-law Leon Linton was one of the most mechanically capable men I have ever known, he worked for 6 years on the North Slope, could build a rotary table out of an old banjo rear end and the most amazing thing I ever saw him do was take a torch and a rag soaked with...

    Civilizing the MEP-002A

That is not an issue, I maintained a pile of 12.5JC gen sets for twenty years on our microwave system before they were replaced, they have the same basic engine as the MEP only on natural gas or LPG, same gov. and set up just like I did this MEP, I may have "touched" up the governors maybe once...

    Civilizing the MEP-002A

One of the connectors between the gen head and reconnection box was toast, this generator is going to be operated by a non technical person and the hand throttle was just another item that could be screwed up and is just not necessary, no other generator I have ever worked on but the military...
