    Civilizing the MEP-002A

I guess I should have said this in the beginning, the MEP-002A is not rare or historically significant, I understand there are some that think that everything OD green should be left as is, in the 90s I restored a M422A1 a machine that is both rare and historically significant and spent many...

    Civilizing the MEP-002A

Ok here is the final schematic as built, I will include some more pictures with information about individual components and other mods tomorrow, and yes it is just that simple and works like a hose... I plan on delivering it to my sisters on Sunday

    Civilizing the MEP-002A

You know Ray I never gave it much thought, you would need to remove CVT1 and re-wire CT1 back in if you wanted the meters to work as they do now,it would be a considerable task to say the least, as I said earlier that running any of these transformers UN-terminated could be disastrous...

    MEP-002A oil drain wrench

Yea, but no storeman, it's pretty tough turning it with a 12" crescent wrench, like to see you do it with a pair of pliers.....DUH

    MEP-002A oil drain wrench

Thanks, and you are correct, any civilian or soldier can operate that valve with a crescent wrench, but again we are talking about my sister, and the crescent wrench has long ago "walked" off with one of the ranch "hands" not as likely with a "only useful for this job" wrench, but then again I...

    MEP-002A oil drain wrench

Mine is the style without a handle, I understand a crescent wrench can be used, but I still wonder if there was a purpose built wrench, something with an inverse X on the end. I guess I should start every post with " I am not as ignorant as you think" it is amazing how some folks assume they...

    MEP-002A oil drain wrench

I did a search and could not come up with an answer, is there a purpose built oil drain valve wrench for the MEP-002A? anyone know where I can get one?

    Civilizing the MEP-002A

I think I got it figured out, here is the schematic re-sized, I have not decided yet if I am going to include the external "fine tune" voltage pot or not, as it is now there is just a jumper across term. 1 and 2 And I decided to install a 5 amp breaker instead of the fuse shown (F1) as I have...

    Civilizing the MEP-002A

Well the SX-460 regulator came in today, There was an issue that came up due to a shipping error and Flight Systems corrected it with amazing speed and a cheerful attitude, even though my own was not so good.. HATS off to those folks at Flight Systems!! Anyway ran out and wired it up, only 4...

MEP002A With low frequency meter reading

If you go to my thread "civilizing the MEP' (page 2)you can see a good picture of what the General is talking about, if you can slow the engine down by manually manipulating the linkage I would not suspect something broken in the pump.

    Civilizing the MEP-002A

Because this generator is headed for my sisters ranch where no one knows jack I also decided to get rid of the hand throttle control (the only reason I can see for it anyway is if you are trying to "sync" two or more generators), what I used was just a SS 1/4" eye bolt from the local hardware...

    Civilizing the MEP-002A

Well here is my idea for replacing the entire distribution box, that is a 60 amp "shorting" barrier strip from Ideal, originally it had a shorting bar in the center between the lugs and two or more brass bolts could be screwed in to short any 2-3 or all 4 of the positions, I thought it would be...

MEP002A With low frequency meter reading

I am a little confused on what you are saying, the throttle cable, linkage and spring run horizontal, so I don't understand your reference to up and down. Craig

MEP002A With low frequency meter reading

If you are not able to see (hear) an appreciable difference when pushing and pulling the throttle control there is a problem and none of that is electronic or electrical, check as above

MEP002A With low frequency meter reading

Open up the "close to run" door and make sure the lever that goes from the end of the throttle cable to the governor spring is not stuck or sticking.. Also make sure the cable adjustment has the cable moved as far forward "to the right looking at the cable" as to give as much slack as possible...

MEP002A With low frequency meter reading

Try loading down the convenience power some and see if the kill A watt reads any different, also as stated make sure you are reading freq. plug it into the house somewhere and see, that is a REALLY cheap Chicomm meter and could be reading erroneously. Best to find a Fluke meter that reads...

    MEP-002A S6 truth table

Com-on Sarg. you remember truth tables, late 70s,,,,, logic gates what goes high what goes low etc. I don't remember MUCH from the 70s, cuz I was mostly going high,, but I do remember truth tables...
