    5ton speedometer adapter on Deuce

I ordered a 5 ton speedometer adapter from a vendor to compensate for my taller tires. Turns out, the two ends (speedometer cable and connection to the transfer case) on my deuce are "male" (male cable ends) , whereas the 5 ton part has a male and a female end. I thought, ok, maybe I can swap...

    Texas DRMO A3 "parts" trucks

Ahem...those are the same people that ram things with forklifts and bend driveshafts on otherwise running-condition vehicles, right? It ain't their stuff, after all....

    12.5r20 Continental tires on Deuce?

AFAIK, Continental owns the Austrian SEMPERIT tire company and that is probably where the tires were made. I'd be curious to know which application they were for and how they made their way to the CONUS. The Austrian military does/did, to my knowledge, not use these tires in this dimension. The...

Pros and Cons of zipper boots

My truck came with new zippered boots from the military. They hold up fine and, given the quality issues with all types of replacement boots, I am not touching them until I absolutely have to. Zippered boots seal well for normal use; you silicone the zipper after mounting; if you intend to ford...

    Is that temp rise normal

The fuel could have been turned up or the fuel density compensator was bypassed and the fuel not turned down. Two things to check.... A side effect of setting fuel injection quantities above what the TM prescribes is that the engine is less "soldier-resistant" and, when making full power...

    1200 miles in a deuce

Well done! I did a three-day recovery with my truck from Virginia and can re-live the thrill. It is an excellent shakedown trip for the truck. Any light seepage will accumulate over three days straight of driving and you get a really good feel for the truck.

    leaking Injector line at IP

You can use the brass inserts for air lines; any truck stop should carry those. Consider replacing all the return lines, while you are at it, with truck air lines.

    M35A3 super shimmy!

I would start with the usual culprits on the frame - check draglink, kingpin etc. for play. Wheel bearing play? Check alignment. Any wear marks on the tires? Front shocks dead? Front tires could be whacko out of balance. It has happened that there is caked, rubbed-off tire material stuck on...

grease and oil in the bell housing

Yes. If your rear main seal is leaking, you will get engine oil into the bell housing.

Fuel leak after spin on fuel filter kit install

I, too , installed both of westfolk's kits. No leaks, but I am not sure how some people could, according to them, install the kits in 20 minutes. It took me a good while, especially the secondary filter. I like the kits, the clear video instructions and so far, so good!

I want to tow my Corvette with my Deuce... Suggestions?

A Deuce will flat-out refuse to tow a Corvette in any fashion, unless the Corvette is painted 3-colour camo.

    Lug bolt thimbles - remove?

Thanks to all that replied. For now, I used the thimbles to hold the wheels and I snugged up the lug nuts, flat side in, as recommended. I notice that the lug nuts snug up against the bulge of the thimble, not against the wheel. I assume that this gives the bulge of the thimble more resistance...

    Lug bolt thimbles - remove?

I flipped the hubs a long time ago and did what seemed logical to do: spin the thimbles all the way onto the lug bolts to re-use the rear lug nuts. Lately, I have been reading that one should not do this, as it can cause the lug bolts to break. So....I need to get 24 front lug nuts and take the...

    Deuce rear suspenstion pics

So, they'd sell you the Deuce remains for about $500 (guess it still weighs about 10,000 lbs). You have damage in the rear that may or may not be frame damage. You can bob the truck and not worry about a second rear axle. However, the truck broke down in the woods during logging operations. You...

    What engine?

Do you recommend re-torquing head bolts to see if that reduces seepage or just stay the **** away from it until you absolutely need to do the head gasket?

    Diesel or Multifuel

US - production M35 are either Gas (petrol) or Multifuel. There is no ''Diesel'' in the lineup. Sometimes you see ''Diesel only'' written on the fuel tank, but that is not because there is a Diesel engine in the truck. US-production 5-ton trucks are Gas (petrol), Multifuel, or have a Mack or...

    Diesel or Multifuel

I understand your question, but in this forum you are really asking "2 1/2 ton or 5 ton". Stacking up my two cents: the Multifuel was never designed to be particularly long lasting and indestructible. It has other qualities that were important for the military at the time. Having said that...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Just finished wire brushing, pressure washing and flat black painting 7 wheels. They have the 11.00-20 G286 mounted and I can't wait to put them onto the truck. A couple of tires had severe overspray (thanks to previous owner) and it was a pain in the butt to remove.

    Arctic Cover

Indeed, the flap is the first part of the cover that I thread through behind the winch clutch lever. I use a long pair of needle-nose pliers to grab the flap from underneath. Try to pull it through as straight (without folds) as possible and watch the rad fins! It comes off 3 times easier than...

M35A3 Cat 3116 Max Operating RPM

If I may, I think this part is what people could not interpret. Are you saying you ran you truck at redline for five days straight?
