    The Dead Rekoning, my M35A2.

Check surplus places (such as sprucemount surplus; they seem to be out of stock at the moment http://www.sprucemtsurplus.com/102002/PA200048.jpg ). Many people have gotten a gallon of MilSpec dot 5 for 30 bucks or so.

    The Dead Rekoning, my M35A2.

I think brake fluid also. Remember that you have only one brake circuit and a master cylinder that holds only a small quantity of "extra" fluid. I recommend that you pull the drum and check it out. Please do not drive it on public roads with a brake fluid leak. If it is an axle seal, it is not...

    Deuce idle time question

Coffee can is great. Especially when you forget it is there and shoot the can and a load of crud across the roof of your wife's car. Always a good laugh right there. I recommend installing a metal flapper. Can be had for a few bucks at a tractor store. The latest model M35A2C had it from the...

    Appels M35a3

That is one industrious week of MV ownership! Truck looks good - congratulations.

Did I use the right grease?

As a principle, petroleum engineering in the 1950's and today is a little different. Today's lubricants are advanced products and USUALLY will surpass the quality of most products available decades ago. The application for wheel bearing grease in the Deuce is not "special" in any way; no...

Injection pump oil lines - "how to" question

I looked at the existing threads and got so-so info. 1) removal of the IP is recommended - is this really necessary? 2) Westech offers newly made hoses (have not heard back from him, yet). I'd rather go with new material on this one than with OEM stock of unknown age. Any feedback on his...

    Locking Diff

I am not aware of stock locking diffs on the M35A2C. Some 5tons and wreckers had them, IIRC. What you see is likely the result of highway tire pressure and no weight in the bed. Not enough to prevent any of the tires from spinning.

    Installed remote brake reservoir today

    1. the vent line is just that - it allows to equalize pressure between the inside of the MC and the ambient air. 2. no, but you may allow fluid from your new reservoir to travel along the vent line when the MC is full. The cap on your new reservoir is vented, so any additional venting at a lower...

    Multifuel engine noise

A timely post! I picked mine up from winter storage yesterday. Not having heard her run in a while I kept thinking ''she has a knock'' on the first few minutes of the drive. Once the temp gauge started moving up, the knock was gone.

    M35A3 Transmision question.

We have a very heavy tandem axle fire truck with an Allison box. It shifts smooth as silk (or so you'd think). Normally, the truck is at max weight, all the time. I just drove it empty (completely stripped of gear, due to upgrades to the box) and without the 2500 imperial gallons of water....and...

    M35A2 and M35A3 Transporting Plants

The first pic really shows how the truck is sagging in the rear, with all those heavy weight plants you put on it! rofl

    Deuce radiator repair!?!

I had my radiator re-cored and a new tank mounted on top (to me, that sounds like they built a new rad....) and the shop charged $450.

Cummins Diesel - emergency shutoff - consequences

What is your opinion on this (a little long winded, but stay with me): It relates to a tandem axle truck (not MV), but you guys know everything!) Cummins ISM 400 (I think) engine, equipped with emergency shutoff (a spring-loaded flap in the air intake that can be triggered to snap shut)...

Thanks, Varyag, for getting me all excited! My G286 are still in the shed waiting to go onto the truck. Can't wait.

There is something Zen-like to looking at a fresh crate motor.

    Canadian Lic. suggestions

Don't count on the MTO caring one bit that the truck is for PERSONAL use, NOT COMMERCIAL. If it is over 4500 kg, they want to see the yellow sticker on it. If you have the yellow sticker, you will safety it annually and you will e-test it annually. Get the picture? The MTO looks at your 40...

    LDT-465 in a daily driver?

It is actually built from a CCKW frame flipped upside down - so plenty strong! Video: '35 Dodge/'44 Troop Carrier Rat Rod - Street Legal TV Forums It looks....somehow way cool.

    A Puzzlement

Turn signal control module u/s. Recommend removing turn signal assembly from steering column, open up and clean/lube contact surfaces and re-mount. Replace turn signal module located under hood. I hear that high resistance due to corroded contacts in turn signal assembly causes the under hood...
