Just a couple more Dumb questions

With a new radiator, new cap and topped off coolant. Your are probably just smelling the radiator spitting out what it doesn't think it needs through the open on the end over flow. Each truck seems to like a different level as "full." One might like it up next to the cap and another might...

M35A2 Blinker and brake light failure and fix

There is a breaker in the 3 lever light switch. However, if it pops nothing will work for lights until it resets itself. I would suggest you loosen both of the 3/4" mount bolts with a 9/16" wrench, clean the bolts, clean the ground contact on the back of the light bucket and clean the mount...

    M1028 starting problems

Make sure you are getting 12V at the pink wire on top of the IP with the key on. That should be your first fuel trouble shooting process. If that is good and you hear a click when you plug/unplug the pink wire with the key on. Then you are looking at fuel supply. If you have been cranking...

1st things to do, to my M1009

Let me put it this way. For $2500, I could drive the 1800 miles or so to your place, trailer the truck back to my place, replace your IP with a new one, put on a spin-on fuel filter, replace all your injection tips, replace all your fuel lines, replace your lift pump, drop the tank and put in a...

CUCV tool kit...what do you carry?

Portrayol press has them for a big junk of change in the original bindings. I downloaded from here and printed them out. I second the kinkos idea by the way. double sided is better than single when trying to store all 1K plus pages in the back of the truck.

CUCV tool kit...what do you carry?

I also carry a copy of the -20 in the back. You never know when you are going to need it.

    Gen 1 Light and Fan

I got to my meeting early and got the volt meter out. 14.40 volts at the front battery with the lights on and engine running. 14.39 at front battery with lights on, engine running and fan on 1 click up. 14.35 volts at front battery with lights on, engine running and fan 2 clicks up...

Fort Sam Houston to Cedar Creek

How tight is your window? I can do it on the 18th or 19th.

    Gen 1 Light and Fan

My alt 1 light will glow with the headlights on and the fan on speed 2. The light will almost shine with the fan on 3 or high. I haven't yet put a meter on the front battery while this is happening. Maybe I can tonight if my Scout meeting gets done fast.

Test light and DVOM along with some spare wire and connectors. Plus pretty much all the stuff already mentioned.

    Fuel leaking from filter

I agree with the spin on conversion for ease of future maintenance, availability of replacement filters, security going down the road and simplicity. I got to add this though. When I swapped over to a spin on last month. I noticed a small puddle under the filter area on the ground. I...

    m1009 altenator part number

Hmm, Joe beat me to it. With the same basic words too.

    m1009 altenator part number

The original military alternators were identical left and right. That way, they only had to stock one part. You can use the Autozone version on the drivers side only! You really only need the drivers side alternator to drive the truck. The rear battery and passenger side alternator only get...

This is the story of my CUCV 12V glow plug conversion.

The pump really needs to be pulled to change out those shaft seals. Think of it this way. If those seals are leaking from being 25 years old, how are the plastic pieces inside the pump doing? Might as well just pull it once, get the IP redone or replaced and then go back to not giving the...

    Smokes White and no start

Slave starting. If the firewall mounted glow plug resistor is removed or bypassed. It is still ok to slave start the truck as long as the front battery has 12 volts or more. Basically, have at least one good battery of the two and make sure it is the front one. If both are bad, do the two...

Deuce pick up GSA lot San antonio

Tuesday is my busy day of the week. A meeting I can't get out of at work until 1600 and Scouts starting at 1800. I will be at my work number I sent you until 1330. After that, call the same main number and extention 4203. You will get my wife Jennifer and she will get anything to me. The...

Scavenging Fuel - Can a Deuce Do It?

24 Volt diaphram operated transfer pumps will run off the truck and move anything from gear oil to gasoline. The gear pumps at TSC say they are only rated for gasoline and diesel. They say no oil! The SBC oil pump thing works fine but is slow. Blocking off the relief valve as they suggest...

    1100X20 Spare tire

The spare tire carrier was designed for 11.00-20 tires. The M34 was the first vehicle in the series and it had 11.00 tires from the start. Since you are prepping for a long recovery. Buy a glad hand, quick connects and such that you need to hook an air hose to the passenger rear trailer air...

    Help please starting problems

Start with what the manuals say to start with. Are both your batteries fully charged? Have them load tested to make sure they are good. Have you checked all the battery wires for clean connections and power? Have you read the troubleshooting section of the -20?
