Could your bendix or gear drive be stuck out and still contacting the flywheel? That would keep it from being able to come free.
Bolt it back up and turn the engine over with a wrench on the front of the crank. When you hear the drive gear come back, unbolt it and don't let it hit you on the...
Are you asking about a stock 230 engine starter motor removal? Undo the wire, pull the two bolts and it will fall on your head if you wiggle with it enough. Actually, I do them from the top just so they won't fall on my head.
Here is my documented mileage from a trip a few months ago.
M1009 pulling a 1300 pound M101A2 with about 500-1000 pounds of gear loaded in the trailer and the truck. I drove 248 miles at gps regulated 60-62 mph in one run. Fuel station to fuel station. 17.8 mpg. The return trip was over some...
Been there done that. I was looking for a picture a while ago and found the one of me painting my 1952 Gasser bare frame on New years Eve 2007. Nothing beats a Gasser for pure mechanical coolness and mechanical noise going down the road.
Sorry I can't help either. I got family stuff going on and a recovery 100 miles the other direction.
I spent Chrstmas day at two different family events on different sides of Sugarland. Let us know the next time you are down here.
How fast are you going on the highway? Keep the engine below 2200 rpm and you should be around 20 mpg. Keep it below 2000 rpm and you should be up near 23 or more.
Measure your tires actual size and plug that into a ratio calculator to figure out what speed crosses over to the rpms...
Sounds like you have it figured out. Mine will shift hard and late if I just ease up to 35 mph. If I am in the power, it shifts nice and smooth. The 1-2 shift is about like you describe.
Chris, I don't know who Carl is.
You both have my cell number. I will be at work until 1630 each day next week though. I will send Rich exact directions to my house and work phone number. The GSA truck will be up front with easy access. Colton gets home from school around 1545, he knows...
If you had audible suction at the fuel filter. My first thought is the in tank pick up tube/sock is clogged up. Have you dropped the tank and gotten any goo out of there?
Do the above and check the condition of the rear battery. If it is bad, the starter won't turn very fast and all the load will go to the front battery.
Bring your truck and wife to the Temple show. April 29th is when we will be setting up camp at the airport. Lots of good people in this hobby around here.
Make sure the transmission is bolted tightly to the bellhousing. Several people have had them work loose and behave as you describe.
Beyond that, I would suggest adjusting the linkage to where it allows the clutch to spin more free. How thick is your clutch disc now?
After that, I would...
Sure was Rich.
The only difference between the civi and miltary 6.2 pumps is supposed to be the hardend parts inside. However, since those parts still break on either version when gasoline is run through the pump. It really doesn't matter.
Use this site to find the nearest rebuilder to...
Besides the pioneer trailers and the hard cover slide ins. Most of those set ups you are thinking about were local unit modifications or done after the trailers left the service.
You have several things in line that tell the transmission when to shift. First, there is the mechanical governor in the transmission that will shift it without any vacuum. Very high engine rpm, but it will shift.
The engine driven vacuum pump generates a constant 18"-22" of Mercury. Do you...
No, but my Whistler left a little puddle out the slobber tube after running for 3 hours down to San Antonio last week and then sitting in the GSA lot idling for another hour. I was kind of worried until I saw where it was coming from. I had the idle up to 1000 by the way just so it wouldn't...
Yes you can use the newer stuff that meets the older standard. Yes, the transmission should be warmed up when you check the fluid. It is also a good idea to shift into all the gears for a few seconds to let the fluid travel around and give you an accurate reading of what is still in the pan...
