    Water in engine valley

I need to unclog mine, apparently. My 6.5 GEP just holds water in the valley and I've bailed it out once when it rained while I had the hood open. I'm just glad that it apparently has a drain, because i was originally annoyed, thinking it didn't have one.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I've been degreasing mine as I go. Certainly am I bit envious that your's is all done in one sweep. My worst section, by far, was all around the brake reservoir. Not entirely sure why it had a half-inch-thick layer of grease on everything around there. Heck, even the bottom of the oil pan...

    2017 Haspin rally, June 7th-11th, info/discussion thread

Putting this down on my calendar. I'm so close to having my HMMWV rolling that I can taste it. I'm sure I'll be ready by the time this rally comes around. EDIT: Won't be able to make the Saturday morning due to some search & rescue training, but there's plenty more of the rally I can make it to.

    Why not TH400?

Wiring. You can either replace the entire body harness with one intended for an A2-series HMMWV (expensive:$1000; and very labor-intensive: entire body should come off, or special tricks must be done) or build an add-on harness that runs the wires and connectors you need for the transmission...

    Why not TH400?

As far as I know, there is no 4L80...all models are "E" models. The closest thing would be for those that do aftermarket installs of manual valvebodies.

Time to go spend more money I don't have. This is a really good deal and now that everyone on here's pretty well aware of it, I better get one while I can. EDIT: Yup, spent that money. He accepted my offer...about a 30% savings for me off of his asking rate.

    Newbie. Generator Questions

Regular one has two female fittings and would directly connect to the fitting on the fan clutch. The -1 is a hair shorter, and has one male fitting that threads into the QD fitting. I picked up both parts on ebay. Hose was $10, QD was $16. EDIT: Looks like I'm full of it. Part target links...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Knucklehead fixes in mind...I've got one I forgot to mention the other day. Some knucklehead (might have been me...) tried to adjust the bend of a soft door while it had the door handle on it, causing the handle to snap when it pressed into something I didn't see underneath. Man, what a way to...

*redacted* ...wrong tool set. I'll just be excited in general.

    Newbie. Generator Questions

Parts, drawing, and assembly instructions are all in TM 9-2320-280-20-3, page D-74 and D-75.

    What is this strap for?

Yup, that thing. My HMMWV came with a very dry-rotted, cracked version of that same kit just tumbling around behind the driver's seat. I, too, was curious about that strap and I remember the manual officially calls it the jack strap. I dug it up out of the -10 right now and it officially says...

    Newbie. Generator Questions

Hey, that's something I can provide. Just did this over the weekend. The main piece is 4730-01-399-0241, PN 12342947-this is the quick disconnect unit. In theory, any hydraulic quick-disconnect should work, as long as it is 1/8 NPT female threads on both ends. You also need a new hose, NSN...

    Euc approved!

Where did you end up putting your Solargizer? I've heard of them being mounted inside the windshield, on the outside of the windshield, through the hood, and on the passenger mirror. Just curious what you chose, since I can't see it in the picture.

    Marker lights

On mine, they had removed the stop light bulbs. Just weren't there at all... I swapped in the running light bulbs into them just to make sure the circuits were good and everything ended up being ok.

By any chance, are you referring to the servo advance assembly pictured here? Btw, the IP is turned bottom-side-up in this illustration.

    Keyed ignition switch?

Good news! It's a Lucas part.

    Keyed ignition switch?

I used to have an ACDelco part number for replacement magic smoke, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Gotta be real careful since you can't seem to replace that stuff anymore.

    Why not TH400?

Some guys have gone the route of a 700R4 transmission since it's an all-mechanical 4 speed; however, it doesn't have the full weight rating the TH400 and 4L80E have, so you really need to consider if the 4th gear is worth sacrificing weight rating. As well, the transmission may be of a...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Joined the Indiana MVPA today. Aside from being half the age of anyone in the room, I had quite a few guys there that were ecstatic to hear I owned a HMMWV, as apparently there are no known members with one of these in Indiana. If you ever wondered why HMMWVs seem to get no love from the MVPA...

    1994 M998A1, Rebuild in Indiana

Did some more work today. Proper hose and fitting come in today, so I installed the quick disconnect for my engine fan. Now that I wouldn't be dumping power steering fluid, I was able to run my engine for a more extended period of time. Finally was able to pick up a few quirks... (and if you...
