The trailer I would be making would necessitate a single axle that can hold 5,000 lbs easily at road speeds. I prefer these trailer axles because the 9.00x20 tires would be rather cheap compared to a similar sized commercial truck tire, or going bigger to the 11.00x20. Thanks for the input...
Might have a need for a heavy trailer axle for a future project build, would like a trailer axle that uses 9.00x20 tires on the end. That pretty much limits it to the following trailers: M105 cargo, M332 ammo, M200 and M353 genset carrier. Each of these uses these size tires.
However, due to...
Amer-team: I think towing it to Bremerton is out. Good idea, but no. :) Lotsa aircraft carriers stored in Bremerton to play around, but I think the tow there would be very expensive.
Last time it was towed, was to a local shipyard a couple years back, to repair and repaint the hull.

I've driven many miles in my deuces on tires made in the 1960s and 1970s. Never once thought of a blowout, but maybe I should have, and made a concerted effort to put a newer tire on the front side.
Glad you're okay.
You don't have to paint, there is a list hundreds of items long, some important, some not, that are listed to get done this work weekend. Cleaning and polishing, welding, fixing general items, wiring and electrical, woodworking, even just running back and forth (sorry, fore and aft) from the...
Just a side note - I have remembered seeing pics of your M920 moving locomotives several times over the past couple years. My question is:
Do locomotives in the southwest need to be moved by truck that often? There are several museums in the Virginia/Maryland area I have been to and the...
Let's see...a good cigar lasts an hour or so. Three hours from where you are to Rausch Creek, that's four cigars! Three for the trip, and one to sell to me when you arrive! :)
LOVE a good cigar!
Yup. Also, there is an office in DoD that is actively looking for anyone out there who has any stockpiles of old, surplus spare parts for F-14s, that are buying them up only to scrap them. I know one instance out west where one guy had 8-10 cockpit canopies, brand new in the crates, for the...
Sorry, wildchild, but noone wants to see your dad in skimpy clothing. LOL
If noone has a spare chainsaw with them, I'll bring one along, I have a choice of Stihl 20, 25, or 36-inch saws available from the family farm, though I don't think we'll need the big boys for the trees up there...
Great dk8019! Glad to hear you can help out! If you have any questions about the event and times, parking, what to bring/wear, etc. Please feel free to PM me, I can answer your questions or pass you on to the event organizer.
Okay it's that time again, the yearly work weekend for the USS Torsk WWII submarine museum in Baltimore, MD is coming up, October 4-6 (Friday thru Sunday). We are looking for anyone who would like to volunteer a little of their time and effort into getting the boat restored and maintained as it...
