Do you think it might behoove us to get a section in the manuals part of the SS website for us to post radio manuals? There are a lot of us who have vehicles with working (or non-working) radio sets installed, I for one feel the addition of such a section would help out many SSers on here...
There are some larger rollbacks that can handle longer cars, like crew cab pickups and some limos, etc. But even if the wheelbase of the deuce would fit, the center of gravity would be very high, I doubt many rollback drivers would trust hauling one, especially if the route had lots of hills...
Any weekend in April works for me, but look back in time and see what we did previously. I think we did first weekend in April. Make sure the event doesn't conflict with the NJ MTA rally, similar time.
Check with No.2Diesel, he's the founder of this event, he mentioned he wanted to show...
rofl That's pretty funny there! Perhaps they were the litters that were used on the early choppers, when the patients had to get strapped to the skids OUTSIDE the aircraft. Wounded or not, that would be one terrifying ride, laying on a litter on top of a skid, nothing beneath you but 5,000...
The spring bolts on my M416 are really rusty. I have replacements to put on but not sure which side is which (one bolt is lefty loosey, the other is righty loosey). The manual is not clear. Help?
The M101s were not designed to dump, but their design makes it able to with the removal of a couple bolts.
BE ADVISED: Some folks have permanently damaged their M101 trailers by loading it up with heavy rocks, bricks, etc. and when dumped it messed up the frame of the trailer.
So, my...
WOW! You get the Drool of the Month Award for your collection, nf6x ! That's quite a gathering of heavy mil radio iron, especially the T-368, that really takes the cake!
Real radios have wheels on them to roll them around....
Every MV project starts out as "I wanna get this to use it" and turns into "I'm restoring it frame up." It may take a lot more work than expected, but the results always speak for themselves.
Keep us updated with more pics as you progress - looks good so far!
Holy ancient thread revival, Batman! Over four years since a post in this thread...
The M332 is a good trailer, I prefer them over the M105 for behind a deuce. But behind a M1009, better be a short trip and a light load. That M332 is 2,500 pounds empty and no brakes (at least none that are...
BTT for those interested in making the trip to snowbound NE PA for the Jim Thorpe show. Not a MV show per se, more like a parts swap meet. But always good to get folks together for the first show of the year...
Went with joediveguy about a month back to recover a CUCV Blazer, it was no fuss, no muss. Quite a change from when I had to recover things from there in 2004, it was **** then.
I bought one as a non-running junker for a couple hundred and a case of beer in 2004. Sold it in 2008 for $2500 in better condition, rebuilt a lot of stuff and got all the parts, running with big 11.00x16 tires on it. It's for sale on the buyer's website for $3,500 in the same condition I sold...
Yeah, that's a little bit of info I didn't expect. A research station in the middle of nowhere on a barren ice cube of a continent has a gift shop. Why? Get many tourists there?
Oh, and BTW - if the gift shop is not for tourists, but for those stationed there, it's not a gift shop. They...
