    Old types still at auctions?

Not to mention, here's a pic of an M37 that was sold off through GL in 2004. A nice, surviving example of an M37. And I'm sure there's still a few old Power Wagons in the weeds at Ft. Bum-phuck Egypt somewhere...

    Old types still at auctions?

GSA will have older line trucks come out for a LONG time. Forestry Department especially. They seem to keep trucks well into their 30 year old time range, sometimes as much as 50-60 years, believe it or not. While there is a phase-out period, there are straglers that stay in the DoD system...

    Amateur Radio

Yes, there are THREE military nets that I am aware of. They are as follows: Old Military Radio Net - East Coast, Saturday mornings starting 0500, 3885 KHz +/- QRM. QSX is Ted, W3PWW. It isn't necessary to check in with military gear, but that is what this net is all about. Westcoast...

    towbar feet

Check with Jim Henry in NC, he always has a pile of them. If not, Austin Weber sells them on eBay, his eBay name is "beltfed34".

    Purple signals?

I thought you were referring to those rice burner owners that put the blue-tinted bulbs in their red taillights to look different. Cops love those.

    slobber tube

I dunno about this - the truck needs a regular slobbering of oil and grease on the underside for rust prevention, as prescribed in the operator's manual. You really need to put the hose back on. That oily mess they normally provide isn't a problem, it's a feature. :grd:

    MTVR Cargo Trailer

If any did get out so far, they were almost scrap condition. I have only seen a few of the FMTV trailers come out to date, and they are 10-12 years old max. Generally, the newer something is, the worse shape it will be in when it does get surplussed. The only MTVR truck I have seen sold off...

    Amateur Radio

The tech license is EASY. General took me a couple years on and off of studying for it before I was confident enough to take the exam, passed on the first try. I want to take the Extra Class license when I go to Frostfest in Richmond VA first weekend of February. THAT is going to be tough...

    Jim Thorpe Winter 2011 Swapmeet

I plan on being there as well. For those who have never been to this event, it's not a vehicle show, just a parts swap meet, indoor only for the most part. Early March in central PA is bitter cold and icy, but it's worth it to start out the new year with an early show.

    sleeper

Good eye, WM, I agree. However, they would have had to shorten the rear frame down to normal M35A2 length as well.

S-250 Shelter / Ham Shack Conversion

Pictures look good, very high tech. But I don't see a single vacuum tube in there. :(

    M915A1 Richmond Recovery 11-10-10

Glad you got home safe. Just an off-the-wall question, Jay - do you ever buy MVs with the intent of keeping them? I've seen almost every MV known to man in your driveway pics but they never hang around.

    M211 mess truck

Mmmmm...mermite containers filled with hot grub and cold beer. Well, hot grub anyways. Great pic!

    'Fallen Armor' Junkyard Dio

Great job, IMHO. I think I made one model in my life, it was a Spitfire airplane, when I was 11 years old. Looked like a glob of glue and mis-assembled parts when it was done. I think I ended up using it as an ashtray, like most of my other shop projects in middle school. Keep up the good...

Thanks for the A.L.I.C.E. packs maddawg308.

Thanks for the kind words, Rick. I sure hope so. There are jobs out there, but there is so much competition for them, the only jobs that are easily gotten are ones that won't pay the bills. If I was married to someone who worked, I might entertain a $10-12/hour job, but I need $20/hr minimum...

    the ultimate Navy radio hamshack

Those are Navy teletype machines - not too many folks have any teletypes in operating condition, they are a niche market I guess. 7mmTCU - looking over his gear, he owns THREE R-390A receivers. I own one and its a resto job, I'm glad I have it, but maybe he has three different makers to check...

    1948-52 willys

I knew it would be an F-134 when I saw the hood scoop. That was a common bubba mod done to old flat-fenders to allow the taller engine to bolt into the lower CJ-2 and CJ-3A jeeps. The F-134 was meant for the CJ-3B and CJ5 series jeeps. Also, the M38A1 had that engine.

Lacrosse Semi Trailer Model DF 6T-33F?

Are you referring to a trailer made by a company called "Lacrosse", or a trailer meant for hauling the Lacrosse missile system?

    junk yard find

Might be easier and cheaper to just buy the whole thing, and part it out when you get home. Whatever's left over, sell to the scrapman.
