Looks like a tank to me.

Really? Do tell. "The M88A2 HERCULES Hercules [Heavy Equipment Recovery Combat Utility Lift and Evacuation System], formerly the M88A1E1 Improved Recovery Vehicle, addresses a long-standing US Army need to upgrade its recovery vehicles to safely tow and recover battle-damaged, mired or...

Looks like a tank to me.

That would be a M88 Hercules Recovery Vehicle. Very large, very useful. It also looks like an early model. If it is worth anything, it will be hauled down to Anniston for conversion into a more modern M88A2 Hercules, with new engine, tranny, etc. If it's not worth it, it will be hauled out...

    Cost of sandblasting?

I paid $100 to take a M416 bed and frame to bare metal, but that was 12 years ago. It was also the only time I ever had sandblasting done, so I don't have much to go on. Most times I sand it myself and spray over metal.

    What a long wet day....

If they were in decent condition, we're going to find a tall tree and a short length of rope... ...so that we can start using a pulley or chain hoist and pull some usable parts off those trucks first! :) Seriously, we hope you're not wrecking some good trucks. The CUCVs are reaching their...

Anyone else own the same vehicle they had in the military.

I think I owned a truck I might have rode in the back of. But then again, all deuces look the same from the Private's seat.

    RC Rally Pics. and Vids.

A few more, before the camera died.

    RC Rally Pics. and Vids.

Got some pics, my camera has been having issues, so a couple are dark and a couple are blurry. Stupid technology, I preferred my old 35mm. And my abacus, dammit. Notice the tree damage from Rob's M923 that I was riding in. Seems no matter what rally I attend I'm in a truck that's...

Fifth Wheel Looks Different on My 818

Perhaps it was a MWO to upgrade the plate? Or maybe the original had been taken off for some reason (broken, etc.), and was replaced with a civvy 5th wheel?

Did you guys see the 1993 HMMWV's for sale?

Got a link to the auction site?

GL Wins today 10/29 - what did you buy?

The one in Ft. Drum went for $3500, the one in Richmond went for $7000. Both were pretty good prices for a large tractor, IMHO.

GL Wins today 10/29 - what did you buy?

The dually M1028 with the new maintenance body in Richmond sold for $6800 plus the 10% and tax. It was REAL nice, and someone wanted it BAD.

    HEMTT rims on M915 series

Would the larger tires be a better fit for the M916-M920 series rather than the 915?

    HEMTT rims on M915 series

Where would the clearance issues come from? Would flipping the hubs help? Stock tires on the M915 series are 11R22, surplus replacements, using the 20 inch rim, could be 395/85R20, 14R20, and 16R20. Heights of the above tires: 11R22 - 44 inch 395/85R20 - 46 inch 14R20 - 48 inch...

Spring rally at rausch creek anyone?

Me too - I need to make RC a several-times-a-year trip, it's definitely a great offroading place.

    RC Rally Pics. and Vids.

Had a great time at the rally, despite not bringing my deuce this time. Actually, in some ways it's more fun - you get to relax and enjoy the ride on the trail, enjoy the scenery, and not have to worry about breaking your truck and "gosh, I broke my truck, how do I get home now?" RC is the...

interesting idea - German WWII prime mover

No guys, I have no intention of building this. It was just a thought that entered in my head about whether or not it was feasible. I guess it is, but not too useful or efficient. Thanks for the analysis, guys.

    HEMTT rims on M915 series

Will the HEMTT rims fit the CCC/AMG M915-series of trucks?

interesting idea - German WWII prime mover

Was thinking on the way back from Rausch Creek, all those deuces that get turned into bobbed 4x4s, that there are WAY too many rear axle spares out there compared with the supply of front axles. Then I remembered the guy in MVM that is selling a 5-ton with 4 rear axles, and I started thinking...

I found out my deuces’ name is Bert

We had a deuce here who's name was Elmo. I also saw a picture of an M-1 tank commanded by Ernie, so Bert may have indeed maintained that truck.

I wonder why they pulled all the m35a2s

It's common for a unit to clean out their cann points (Cannibalization Points) once in a while, and the hulks end up on GL. There was a 5-ton auction recently in Kansas, a bunch of 939-series 5-tons in scavenged condition made it out. No demil required. Get some new parts, Lego-build it up...
