Agreed - plus, since the front end is like this, you know why they surplussed it out. The rest of the rig is probably cherry.
Good find, not too many get these SEEs.
I think the medium towbar was a BII for the wrecker. The deuces never carried towbars.
Does anyone know if the wreckers carried both a medium and heavy?
What size towbar you need, the medium or the large?
TNJ Murray has wiffle trees for $200. They are expensive, because he needs them for his 816 wrecker contract for overseas sales.
Awesome looking mule, Nick! You were right, the TOW pedestal on the mule is much different from the ones that Murray had. Found a dummy tube yet for the launcher?
I have a feeling that deuce parts will be coming out of GL for many, many years. The military was still getting rid of WWII era parts in the 1980s, that had been stored away for decades after the vehicles were retired.
This isn't retirement - just have free time to go places that I didn't have when I was employed. Up side is I get to play with green iron more! Down side is the bills are getting harder to get paid.
avengeusa - I'm not sure, I think if I ask nicely and get a handful of them, maybe $25...
There is a similar condition one near here in really crappy shape I am going to offer $200, only for the sake of parting out to save the parts. This one you show isn't a rarity, so the price he is asking is laughable. As in, ask him how much he wants, he tells you, and you laugh in his face...
Looking forward to chilled adult beverages! :grd:
Just to let others know, if you want anything brought to Aberdeen I will be going back here before then, I can pick something up. I don't wanna go here as often as I do Colemans, the distance is quite a bit further and the traffic getting to...
Last lot of pics - I saved the best for last. I wanted to buy this myself, but with being out of a job and not really having time to play with it in the first place, I am posting my find here to try and find a worthy home. M756 pipeline deuce remains. Includes the axles, the bed (no wood)...
Few more. M818 tool boxes/spare tire brackets with hoses. Not sure what the jacks are. The WWII director's trailer has been in the yard since the 1960s, deserves a good home. He wanted $500 for the trailer.
More pics. The mule deck is just that, the deck. He wanted $200 for it, I was tempted to save it, but I decided not to. Perhaps the next yard-hopper will snag it.
Darn, I'm tired - 10 hours on the road today. 4 going, and 6 coming back (Friday afternoon traffic around DC beltway sucks!)
Good weather, a little cold, but saw a lot of green iron today in the weeds at TNJ. John Murray is hard to get ahold of, but a great guy to deal with. Even let me take...
I think you earned a free date with Robyn! :D
Awesome job, Daniel! You got OD fever bad, O just hope it doesn't devolve into bidding on more oddball stuff at GL, like aircraft tugs and step vans. You never know, I've seen some surplus guys start off with the disease real easy, and it got...
