I'm in Charlotte & could make it; but all I could offer to bring is my WWII jeep. Electircal problems on the deuce have it side-lined. Let me know if there's interest in having the jeep there.
-Russ
I had a similar experience with my WWII jeep. I was preparing to trailer it for the first time. I decided to put the windshield down so it would not have to resist the wind, and used one of those "motorcycle" tie-downs on the windshield. Everything was fine until I hit 70 mph, and the the...
I found a gear puller worked well. You'll need to put a flat plate, wrench handle or something similar over the end of the axle housing to give something for the gear puller to "pull" against.
Hey Joe,
I just saw this thread and I'll plan to be there. We've just moved from Washington state, but I actually know where Blythewood is. We'll be living in Fort Mill soon, so it would be a short run down the I-77 for me.

That's the way I installed them, so I'm not sure what I may have done wrong to cause the leak to start again. I may have over filled the housing. Is 3/4" below the fill hole correct? I initially had the level higher and then removed some of the gear oil to get it down to 3/4" below the fill...
I Just replaced three of the rear seals on my M35. I found the following on the web and found it really helpful:
http://www.bunkerofdoom.com/mil/m35/raxle/index.html [thumbzup]
It has some great photos and a nice drawing of the sealing arrangement so you can better understand how the seals...
Hi,
I'm a new duece owner and new to Charlotte. I'd like to attend the meeting this Sat., but my wife won't let me. She thinks it's more important for me to attend our daughter's wedding. Oh well, what can you do when faced with that kinda of thinking?
If you're going t meet...
It is an addiction. I really enjoy driving the thing. I even drove it this past weekend during a very hot afternoon, it was over 100. It wasn't too hot as long as you were moving. But when stopped, it got hot in the cab fast.
I can't say enough how helpful this site and the folks on it are...
Sorry about tha!
I'm very slow at typing & those posts weren't there before I began mine.
Hope you aren't forced to go the commercial insurance route.
Good luck!
Have you tried Gulfway Insurers?www.racensur.com
I'm having them work up a quote for me now on my M35A2. The cover many race cars but have discovered a nitch for Collector Trucks including MVs. I have my auto & home insurance with State Farm and the only way they will cover my M35A2 was as a...
Folks,
I gave the frame number to CARNAC (aka medlog) and asked him what he could tell me about the truck. As it turned out, a lot!: :jumpin: :jumpin:
Kenny, and everyone, thanks for all your help. This has been interesting and fun! rofl
-Russ
medlog,
Wow! :jumpin: Thanks for the information.
The previous owner lived New Orleans and the deuce has markings for the LA NG. It had two previous owners so it quite possibly was sold by the government in '98. This is much more information than I ever thought I've have on this truck...
Greetings Carnac,
I recently bought my first M35 from a private party. It is a M35A2. The frame number is 0325-20912.
The data plate probably does not belong to this vehicle, but here's the info:
Utica-Bend 1957 S/N M-40438 Stock No. 2320-825-8196.
The hood number is 409077.
By using your...
Rebelpride,
Thanks! We just moved from the Seattle area and really like it here (Dan, We lived in Tigard for 27 years prior to moving to Seattle 4 yrs ago. Portland is a great place to live and we miss it.). I've noticed there are quite a few of us in the area. It would be fun to meet...
Jason,
I can't tell you how good that is to hear. Warren, Fred's son, was great to deal with. Warren showed my wife & I Fred's model train collection and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It is by far the biggest collection I've ever seen. I was interesting in model railroading while...
OK, will do. Not really what I wanted to hear, but the truth hurts sometimes.
The gentleman who last owned this truck passed away, and his son was selling this truck to settle his dad's estate. The son did mention that there were two parts trucks that he was able to sell quickly. The...
Kenny,
I decided to take one more look and did see a single number to the left of your circle. I don't have any paint stripper, but some brake fluid got some of the paint off and I can make out four digits. It looks like 0325(?). But it doesn't look like that number continues to the right...
Kenny,
I agree, I'd prefer to know what is really is. It had two previous private owners that I know of, so no letting if the data plate has been switched. It looks like it has been removed at some point, but it may have when the truck was re-painted. The underlining color is lighter green...
Hey Kenny,
Went out armed with flashlight and camera. Pls take a look at these photos. I couldn't find any numbers stamped on the left frame. Was I looking at the right area? I did find a number stamped on the left front shock mt. Could this be it?
I'd like to know too if this was a '57...
