OK.. so my driveshafts are off for new u joints... and have made the following observations...
The input shaft to the front differential ( the one with the flanges) has some fore and aft free play... feels like alot but is probably 20 to 40 thousnadths... I can just see it move... the rears...
OK.. what sadistic SOB invented the 'tab type' u joint? First you have to chisel off the 1/4" steel tab from the bearing and then press the bearing out.... double (no triple since I had to buy a press) work... is there some advantage to these over the circlip type u joint retainer??
Anyway...
Ordered a complete set of u-joints from OD iron yesterday at 3 PM... they arrived this morning at 11 AM... heck.. I couldn't have gotten to NAPA that fast!!! Thanks Devilman!!!
I was hoping to do the work this weekend if the weather gods will ever let it stop raining... so was looking for commercial part numbers I might get locally...
Does soemone have NAPA (or other commercial) numbers for the M35A2 drive shaft u-joints? ( I did search the forum... either get zero or a thousand hits... can't find 'em)
Thanks!
Anyone know of a source for a 24 volt fan to mount in the cab for the driver? Back b4 trucks had A/C they were standard equipment, but I have googled it every way I can think of and cannot find a source...
Maybe one of the active duty guys here could go talk to the DRMO guys on their base and find out what the heck is going on from that side of the coin????
I am seeing a bunch of stuff on GL like book shelves and other office furniture that shows it must be de-milled. There is something screwy...
OK.. I know I need to pull a wheel bearing PM on the truck... am sure the former owner who had it for 2 years never did one... but til I have the time and place to do it... I am riding onward... so... after a 15 mile trip down the interstate at full ramming speed (50 mph) how warm should my rear...
