I am trying to repair the steering column in my M1009. I have the column taken apart but am having trouble finding out what this particular part is called. It came from below the turn signal switch. sorry about the horrible pictures.
So far I've gone through:
Virginia
North Carolina
South Carolina
Georgia
Alabama
But early next year me and my family will be making a long trip from here in Fort Benning, GA to Las Vegas, NV for me to start a recruiting job. That should be a fun one.
OK so here's the deal, My M1009 has been at a mechanics for a few months. I got it back yesterday but there are a few problems he couldn't get fixed and a new one. The new one is that the key is stuck in the run position it will move to the start position but thats it, he said it was easy to...
I know mine is off. I replaced the engine with another from a parts truck I had with no gauges. But I know I have put 10K on the truck itself in the 4 years I have had it.
Ok, so here's the deal. A mechanic replaced what I am pretty sure was a 24 volt starter with a 12 volt starter but left the system 24 volts. Would that fry some other circuits or prvent the batterys from charging. or on the flip side he says it is a 12 volt system that had a 24 volt starter...
Sadly, its not just scuttlebutt. There are many, many incidents of LMTVs rolling every year and many fatalities and serious injurys as a result. The 5 ton version is much more stable.
I have known quite a few soldiers that have had to work on a broken down FMTVsin the field to get it running again, when you have no wrecker in the convoy and the brakes lock up in the middle of a town you don't have a choice but to get in the dirt and turn wrenches while others pull security...
Thanks PB. I am glad it will go to someone with the resources to restore this great vehicle, and not the scrapyard. When I got the M43 I had every intention of fixing it up. I had resources lined up and everything was moving along nicely. But sometimes things just fall through and don't work...
I have a 1963 M43B1 that i have to get rid of pretty quick. I have the engine in pieces and i just needs a cleaning and new pistons to be running. Would it be easier to sell as a lot or scrap the body and sell of some usable parts (i.e. lights, alternator, starter etc.) any suggestions would be...
If DRMO is scrapping brand new parts that are being turned in I do believe it can be reported through the waste, fraud and abuse hotline the government has. Just a thought.
When I moved from NC to GA I was overloaded by about 1,000 lbs. (had my M105 strapped down in the back and all my spare tires and excess gear.) It weighed in at 11,000 and I was towing my M1009. The only Leo that stopped me wanted to know if he could take a picture with my trucks. If you have...
Be careful with Nationwide. I had them for 4 years before I got my duece. When i got it they said they could insure it no problem. Then a month later I got a a voicemail that said that as of that call I was no longer insured by nationwide on any of my vehicles due to the size of the duece. They...
