I am so glad I got my plates in VA. Cost me $140 for permanent historical plates. Didn't need to bring the truck by or any thing. I thought anything diesel and over a certain age was exempt from the emissions stuff in CA?
I had Z Rails (or K rails) installed in the bed of mine. They are the same thing you see in the back of CDL vans or semi trailers to tie down loads. It worked great. The load limit on those (depending on which one you get) is about 3-5 tons.
I was able to locate a vendor for the tie up hooks. They are called huckle-buckles. I was able to find them at GMA cover. Thank you for your help Barrman & Sermis.
I need to find some of the parts that go on the straps that attach to the bows to tie the cargo cover sides up. I have the vinyl one piece cover. Anyone know where I can get some?
Be careful with the Saturn surplus wrenches. They tend to break. If you can, get one and use it to fabricate your own. When I replaced my head gaskets the wrench I got busted while tightening the 2 bolt back on. I was lucky enough to find one on post at the ITT maintenance facility. They had cut...
I finally fixed mine this weekend. Turns out the wire that connects to the wire coming out of the column had rubbed itself to the metal on a fuel line. so it took all of 10 mins to fix. Now I can finally let people know they shouldn't cut me off on the road.:driver:
Not sure which part (I'm not the one doing the work on it) But apparently it involves the wiring on the firewall. There is a major short that keeps messing up th alternator and other electrical items in that general area.
The last long trip I made in my duece was about 500 miles (Ft. Bragg, NC to Ft. Benning, GA) I had my M105 and all my spare tires etc in the back and towed My M1009 behind. 12 hrs wasn't to bad. Just make sure you stop every few hrs to check for leaks, flat tires and such. And for me the hearing...
i know the horn button isn't sticking, I have taken it apart a few times and it works as it should, that and the spark lets me know it's not a sticking issue.
My horn started going off on its own this morning repeatedly, and I saw a spark/arc in the steering column where the horn button is (I don't have the rubber cover on) and then it just stayed on. I had this problem before and replaced the horn solenoid but apparently that wasn't the problem...
I've actually talked to a few people, so I don't really have a specific name for you. sorry. But they are supposed to be able to insure vehicles up to 25,000 I believe. That and I told them it is an antique vehicle. (over 30 yrs old)
I guess I will add my 2 cents. I had nationwide for years and when I got my M35A2 they said no problem. and them 3 weeks later I got a phone call saying that I was no longer covered at all and my policy was canceled as of that phone call because of the duece. I was getting ready to PCS at the...
