2001 1097, 6.5 w 4 speed. 55-60 at 2200ish. Has plenty of power to do more, but just more comfortable at that speed and RPM's. I must be getting old.....
Welcome and hope you are a hands on guy. Great rigs to learn on. I get a sense you are "budget minded". Just saying, parts for these are expensive, the mileage is horrid and overall not a cheap hobby. But, the smiles per mile are worth it if you credit cards are up for it! If I am way off here...
If you are getting a quick flash on the "wait" light, than that shows the actual light is good. You need to get a DVM and start checking for voltage at the GP. And I will second about either OHM testing the GP and even better to just replace if you don't know the history. They are inexpensive...
Nasty. When I mentioned earlier about the oil change due to water in fuel tank, this is what I was referring to! That transfer pump sucked water out of tank and into your IP. Which than gets into your crankcase. Glad you're getting it all cleaned up and running properly.
Temps starting to rise here in the Northeast and have experienced the cooling fan kicking in! Holy Sh$% batman! That baby is moving some air and you really know when it's on! My truck will actually do a nano second hesitation when it comes on. I have seen the numbers of CFM that it moves and I...
Did you do an engine oil change? With the water in the fuel tank and assuming they tried to start it that way, some could have made it into the engine. You seem to be on top of all the basic stuff. If the engine sounds ok, fingers crossed. Compression engines and water in the cylinders make for...
I did some research and NAPA has a good "industrial"" battery if you decide to go with new, which might not be a bad idea. Of course choosing batteries for these rigs is like a chevy vs ford vs dodge conversations!
Finally!!!! Good for you. Looks decent. I asked what that canister was before. Where do the rubber lines go to? Would put that start box at the top of your list for replacement. That is an old one that is on its last leg. Keep us posted.
hey all, something so simple, yet escaping me. I did search, nothing specific. Is there a trick to installing a tip on antenna?? I have already cracked one a little bit doing what I thought was the way to do it. Slowly inserting the tip of fiberglass into the tip. Any help appreciated!
Seeing videos, etc about adjusting the IP for a little more power. For general use, is it even worth it? Looks like a fairly simple process to actually do it. Curious to hear from those that have done it. Here is the tag on my motor.
These trucks are very basic. A good diesel mechanic could help you. But, basic engine diagnostics still apply. Compression, fuel pressure and volume, oil pressure, etc.. Steve would definitely make it right. But you need to diagnose one thing at a time and than go from there.
