Jeff, finally found picks of your build. Looks awesome! Would love to see more pics. Is your side armor double walled? One of the pics shows the boarding ladder and what looks like planks in between your steel, or am I misinterpreting the picture?
Again, I want to thank you guys for all the invaluable information. I've learned so much on this subject.
So now the conundrum... How do I turn my deuce into a reasonable representation of a Vietnam Era USMC War Wagon using 2 pics of one 5-ton and not offend the purists out there (too much)...
Thanks. I'm 4 years into it now. I'll be welding on the toothpicks over the winter and fabricating 2 pedestal mounts for the bed. I can't believe how scarce replica guns are right now. I have the David Doyle book but not a single USMC truck in it. I know the deuces didn't last long as gun...
Gentlemen, thanks for the info. I'm contemplating turning my deuce into a representation of an early gun truck (now War Wagon) but I will not change my USMC markings to Army. A friend of mine has a USMC HMMWV that is decked out with all the military bling you can think of...smoke, boomerang...
I found that If I make sure to debur the inner nut, polish the face of the nut that will contact the seal, and put a very light coat of grease on it, the nut doesn't grab the seal and break the tab.
