Speaking of soft-tops, haven't had much time to play w/ mine yet (focused on the 109 build) but I did notice, the other night when I was sitting in it thinking/dreaming, that there is a sleeve sewn on horizontally, at the height of the cab back.
Not sure if they intended for it to be pulled up...
If that is where I think it is, over near Palmdale, I know someone that is getting rid of a Deuce out there. PM me if you are interested.
Hoping to be leaving here for our summer trip in the next few weeks. Would you be around Yuccy Valley in the next couple weeks? If so I'll PM my #.
Steal away. The tank just fits w/o having to mod the mudflap. It's a 14.5 gal tank and we first thought that we would be cutting into the mudflap to mount it. Turned out that the mounts on the tank let us slide it far enough forward to just miss it and still give room for cab movement.
If you...
Next it was time to start on the propane tank mounting. Dropped the spare, mudflap, and pulled the holding unit off. With help from a friend that can weld, we fab'd up some mounts. Painted the tank got it back into place. Will still be able to re-hang the spare w/o having to do any fab'ing.
Pulled the hinges of a $5 futon frame we got at the local swap meet and mated them to some 3/4 birch ply. After making sure that my tape didn't lie to me, and I really could lay it down w/o running into the wall, I pulled it all apart for some sanding & oiling. Now I live in a tree less desert...
M109 Live-in Rig - Spacial Transformations style
I've been promising to some of you that I would do a build thread when we (finely) got started . . . that time has come.
We spent the last year getting to know the rig, sealing leaks, singling out the rears & changing the tranny, re-deucing the...
We ARE doing that 109 into a camper. Will be starting a build thread soon (ssshh).
Same here w/ that desert camping thing. Can't find Juniper Hills on my map program:-? We are going to be heading north at the end of July (target date) in the 109 and would be willing to swing by, if you're not...
Kayzap,
where in the mojave? I suspect that my M35A2 (the "little Draggin' ") will get more use than anything else we have. I've been trying to keep up w/ my lady's truck and trailer buying
I'm totally in agreement w/ that! I've spent loads of time clicking on ads only to find out where they were. Somethings are NOT worth having shipped long distance. Being on the west coast makes us about as far away as you can get from some of the "good deals" (not counting those in other...
Kind of like our M109. We still do 52mph easy w/ stock 9.00x20's.
Don't really know if it means anything other than the canvas gets more abuse. Sure don't seem to notice it, do know it when we get side winds:shock:
Billy Bobbed,
You can get to it from the access plate on the bottom. It only greases the shaft that the fork slides on, not the bearing (if I'm remembering that right). It should be in the lube orders.
LowTech
We did re-run the safety wires when we did our flipping.
Also drilled and safety wired the bolts on the front of the tranny when we swapped that. Not only were they lose when we pulled it from the parts truck but some were lose in the one we were taking out. Will be pulling that out again and...
Are there any 14.50's, in good/decent shape, available in the SoCal area?
Have already checked w/ Hundy and he's out of them. Looking to do around 2,000 miles in the M109 aug/sept, NOT on singled 9.00x20's. Would like for `em to be close `nuff that I can pick `em up. :|
If I can't find any...
Wondering about that "got it in the mail" thing, is that Snail Mail? Do they let you know via E-mail as well?
I will need to let someone know to send my S-mail to me. If they let me know on e-mail I'll know when to have them send it.
It's that "living on the road" that makes it hard to get...
When I did ours I noticed that it came w/ another "sliver" like piece of plastic that fit in between the metal end and the plastic "J". It filled up the space and took out that slop.
