Anyone want to take a shot at guessing which color OD this is? I am gonna want to paint the HEMTT, but I really would rather have a solid OD color, and forgo the camo patterns.
This looks a bit darker then the 383 on my 5-ton.
I know I should start a new thread - but since your here already - Any idea where I can get the hook/pulley that belongs on the crane on the back of this thing? I know there will be many other parts I need to find, but that's the first one that jumped out at me.
I have been referred to Condon and Skelly by a buddy that has his Abbot insured with them. Do you think they will insure something as relatively new as a 1986, though? I'll call them in the morning. I'm also gonna ask State Farm if they can insure under their Collector Policy. It's worth a...
So now that I've bought a HEMTT, I'm gonna have to insure it. I've been insuring my 5-ton through State Farm for pretty cheap as a collector rig, but I doubt that's gonna fly this time. Guess since I've stepped in size I'm gonna be stepping up big-time in insurance premiums.
I wish I could...
Okay - I messed up typing this post - I TRIED A FIL4067 FROM NAPA.
It looked like it would work at first, but when put into place, the threaded stub coming out of the center of the stock filter base was tapered at the bottom and wouldn't fit into the adapter, not letting it seat all the way...
I bought a Napa FIL4167 filter adapter which was supposed to be the same as the Wix 24067... Almost, but not quite. I was all excited about getting rid of my leaky cartridge filter.... Still leaking around that darn bolt on the end. I've replaced the brass washer and the whole bit...
So my...
I'm trying to find a slightly smaller steering wheel for my 5-ton - anyone know if I can get a smaller 3 spoke wheel somewhere? What will fit the 5-ton column?
I was wondering about that! I changed out the hood on my pickup, so I used the old one for practice when I first got the cutter. Man that is so much fun just zooming around cutting designs in the metal! It's amazing how fast they can cut, and make such a clean edge. The rear panel under my...
I set this up so I can pull 4 clevis pins and slide it out (it's heavy - about 100 lbs.) and then pin it in the front of the bed for loading heavy stuff up ramps also. It's not easy to move around, but it is do-able. I've also just bought a 2000 lb. superwinch ATV winch off Ebay to replace...
I should have taken some pics of the entire process. Basically I took a couple of spare M900 series front bumper extensions, cut and welded them into a nice winch cradle and then mounted some 3"x3"x 1/4" angle to the top of the framerails for the winch to pin to.
I also just finished mounting...
I have a set of 5-ton lock out hubs - I posted a pic in one of the posts on here a little bit ago. Search for Dualmatic and you should find it.
I haven't put them on yet, but I'll keep you informed. I've also put a Deuce air-shift switch in so I can shut off the front axle from the...
Pretty straightforward. Just 2 sticks of 3"x3"x.25" x 14' square steel tubing and about $50 for grade 8 bolts that are 3" longer. I used all-thread with double nuts on the spring-mount up front, as it's pretty tough to find bolts 14" long...
It took much more time to weld up the ends of the...
The exhaust tip is off an APC, not sure which one. Maybe my buddy Jim will chime in here and tell you which APC, that's his specialty. It's flapper came off, so I made a new one out of some diamondplate scrap I had kicking around. I like the way it looks.
I'm getting ready to install my new...
I'll get some light pics tomorrow for ya. Yeah, the tires are 16-20's tubeless XL's. A buddy of mine just gave me 6 new ones he had kicking around and didn't need - in case I shred one.
