pics of my 5-ton with the 3" bedlift installed

Well, I didn't really need it, but I think it looks great with a little more vertical axle clearance over the rear tires. Here's some pics, I also installed the taillights up into the rear bed instead of hanging down below it. I busted one taillight up already when they were mounted the old...

    valve stems needed

I believe a few threads back someone found a part number and location for them. They aren't cheap, though. I'd try to make one from Haltec parts. try - www.haltec.com

What's the best way to wire a 12v winch into my 5-ton?

The specs say this motor is a "permanent Magnet" motor. Is this able to be rewired for 24v? MileMarker shows a 24v option on this winch (at least the MileMarker version) so maybe they have a 24v motor available for it.

Weight of a 5 ton winch

According to the manual TM 9-2320-260-10 the front winch adds 665 lbs to the weight of a M813A1. That would include the winch, extensions, pto, lever/linkage, and driveshaft. I just put one on my truck and that sounds about right. The PTO weights around 25 lbs, and the driveshaft, lever, and...

What's the best way to wire a 12v winch into my 5-ton?

The winch is an REW8000 Chicago Electric which is a pretty cheap winch, b ut I was told it is the same thing as a PE8000 Milemarker, which looks IDENTICAL. Here's a couple of pics of each - the specs are the same too. Anyone know if this is series wound? I have the spec book here, what am I...

What's the best way to wire a 12v winch into my 5-ton?

How about rewiring the winch to 24 volt? Or maybe replace the motor with a 24 volt motor when I burn up the 12v motor! Thanks for the tips. I'll look into the dual voltage alternators - I like that plan.

What's the best way to wire a 12v winch into my 5-ton?

Devilman's Deuce is going to be a different setup then on my NHC 250 - anyone know what alternator to use, and how easy the mounts are to fab up for the Cummins?

RE: What how tough is it to add a second alt? What about the mount?

    NHC250 oil filter ?

I just bought one of those conversion filter mounts and it didn't fit at all. It wouldn't seat down against the filter base. Has anyone actually used these? The book says it'll work, but it sure didn't on mine. I'm still looking for something that will allow me to switch to a spin-on filter...

What's the best way to wire a 12v winch into my 5-ton?

I bought an 8000 lb. winch that I want to wire into a couple of quick-plugs on my 5-ton. One plug up near the front of the bed so I can use it for my manual crane, the other plug back by the rear for when I need some pulling power to load stuff to the bed. I think I may build an a-frame...

    What does this insignia represent?

You say you make them - is it a decal or a template that is painted on? Normal black paint or special IR stuff?

    What does this insignia represent?

I've seen this inverted V on many trucks and armor, but what does it signify?

5 ton axle bearings and seals part# x-reference?

Good luck with this thread - I sure could use these numbers too. Unfortunately I've never come up with squat.

I need Dualmatic parts for my 5-ton locking hubs

Here's some pics, they are totally disassembled right now and I'll get them looking and working nice over the next few weeks as I get time. They were pretty rough when I got them, but I guess they're salvagable. Any suggestions on how to fix these up I could use the advice.

I need Dualmatic parts for my 5-ton locking hubs

I have a set of 5-ton Dualmatic hubs that I am restoring, and I'm wondering if there is anything left out there for them or do I need to start fabricating.... I need the locking levers (2 long and 4 short levers for each hub) and I need the inner star-shaped splined drive gear that slips over...

Could someone post a picture of the pto lever safety latch?

Thanks a lot for the pics. That's just what I needed. I got lots of door hinges and a grinder. I just wasn't sure on the method. Seems pretty simple.

Could someone post a picture of the pto lever safety latch?

It's that safety latch on the inside mounted to the tranmission tunnel cover to keep the winch/pto lever from accidentally engaging. I need to fab one up, and I want to make it right the first time. Also, my winch clutch lever mounted to the winch itself is marked "clutch-in" and "clutch-out"...

Anybody want to take a guess at these fluid leaks?

I think even Jon would admit to a little journalistic license with his depiction of my rural surroundings and my loving wife's tolerance for my hobbies. I had absolutely no idea he worked for a magazine, or that there was any plans for an article. If I had I would have really "rural'd" the...

Anybody want to take a guess at these fluid leaks?

Yep, you can do that. But also make sure the tranny isn't overfilled. Sometimes people will fill them through the shift tower (shifter stick removed) and they will accidentally overfill it. How's my old truck doing? Still running strong?
