Olag '89, The distance from the "last Gas" to the nearest border of the Unit I have drawn a tag for is 2 hours drive. This would go with the 1/3 of fuel load each way, leaving a 1/3 left for play time. If I take along 4 5 gallon cans, I guess I can head back when I get through the 1st spare...
Did the searches on this forum and tracked down the Diode on the rear of the horn relay near the fuse block. I use to know how to read IC; but don't remember now. What diode is used here. I hate to just cut it out. I'll make up a diode with two leads and use parasite splices to tie the new one...
Dave Kay, yep 1986Blazerk5 is reiterating what I was referring to. The current tank is supposed to be 27 gallons; yet I ran it uncomfortably low and only got 21 gallons in to fill it up :?. The 31 gallon tank "upgrade" is not really worth the effort- a 5 gallon Jerry would give me more bang for...
Looking to carry more fuel into the great unknown. What options are there? I looked at the tanks on JC Whitney; but it seems that all they have is a 31 Galon tank- it's only $200; but I don't know if its worth the effort for such a small gain. I'd rather make more room for a extra 5 gallon...
New M1009 owner just learning the vehicle. I have always gone out an bought the usual Chilton, Clymers and Haines manuals as well as the Dealer Shop manual specific to the make and model year. When I could not get a good description or picture in one...
So now I want to get the requisite books...
Just bought this back from the U-Pull IT. Cost $45.00, all steel with rubber coating. It came off a minivan; but needs only mild persuasion with an over sized hammer to lay flat. Question: This seems like an obvious question at that: Should I not plan of securing this to the fiberglass top...
"this is a standard 6 bolt chevy rim...... ANY rim from an 70 - 80's model 1/2 ton truck, blazer will work.... local junk yard will have (should have) a stack of them..."
This is what I am talking about. Thanks, I'll get on it. ;-)
I have been looking for hours and I am only finding stock rims from some German outfit?!? What can I use as a spare rim. Where can I get one? Hey It is a spare so it does not have to look exactly the same; but it would be nice. What is the spec on this rim?
Thanks... oh I still have a few...
What size rims are stock on the M1009. Mine came without a spare and I would like to get a couple. The tires and rims now on are 31x10.5-r15 LT. Sould I stick with this size or can I get a larger tire on the stock rims?
Thanks
OK, I bought one yesterday. It is an 85 M1009. I shocked the guy by having a flashlight and the cajones to drop and roll under the chassis for 5 minutes. I could not find any oil leaking- or signs that there had been an effort to conceal any. The drivelines and joints looked straight and sound...
Well, I wouldn't say harsh- Heck, you dont know me. I may sound like a waana play Army guy since I am a new guy here. I am a 52 years old Army brat. My dad served 23 years and loved it, I loved it. I loved going on bases around the planet and crawling around artillery they had parked near the...
I am looking at a M1009. What are the watchwords here? What do I have to know about before making a decision to buy. I am not familiar with deisel engines. What should I check in the suspension and drive train?. What are the must have features?
Thanks... I need help before it gets snapped up.
