What tire pressure works for you?

Ron, Case Closed? I don't know about your tires; buty mine give a MAX. Tire Pressure only. They don't give a recommendation as to what the tire should be inflated to for a vehicle they don't (or couldn't possibly) know the tire is going to end up on. If it was as simple as that man I would not...

What tire pressure works for you?

Have looked all over for the correct answer. There are many variations because the variables are many: What tire brand are you running? What tire size are you running? Are you running with a lift? Are you running with a load? OK lets get a benchmark for what seems to be the most common: Stock...

    Black out lights quite dim.

The drivers side rear Blackout light in the bumper of the M1009 I bought seems to grow dim sometimes- You can see the difference from the passenger side lamp. How do you test and R&R these?

    Green OR black rims?

Still painting my M1009. I was wondering which color is correct as opposed to wich color looks best. The rims on my M1008 were Ultra Flat Black. They looked pretty good; but I'd like to know what y'all prefer.

Where are you getting stage one CARC?

    NEW type of CARC

I guess its not too late; but since I have already paid for the paint and the HAZ MAT fee... I will use it up. Besides, part of the reason I went with 383 is that I wanted to avoid CARC and all the potential hazards I, as a novice painter with a modest shop, bring into the equation. I have...

    NEW type of CARC

K-then. Anyone have a tried and true method for flattening the "383" and darkening it as well?

    NEW type of CARC

In the middle of painting my M1009 with fresh "383" from Gillespie. I have read that it looks and finishes: "a little lighter than CARC" or"a little shinier than CARC. When I compared the dried "383" to CARC, I do see that the CARC IS both lighter and smoother/shinier. Sooooo... if this is the...

ever get a load of gas in your CUCV?

Since I bought my M10093 months ago, I have only been to the gas station 3 times. I always fill it at about 1/4 tank left. The first time I drove in to the station just after I bought it, the indiam guy that ran the place threw the lever on the Diesel pump and handed it to me. I never tanked up...

    RE: doghead starter relay modifcation

RE: doghead starter relay modifcation I got the new relay for this project to stave off any backroad breakdowns. As I reviewed the procedure I see something that may be a problem- not in the original procedure; but in the "add-ons", if you will, with the added diode: The original photos show...

    ACES II Diesel Fuel Catalyst

Alright Jake, I was wondering about this stuff as I read the hype sheet- it sounded like that bottle of soap from Dr. Bonner's Does EVERYTHING!. So anyone object to treating every fill? What frequency works best and what treatment is the best available. I have read that using additives like...

    ACES II Diesel Fuel Catalyst

So no one has seen this stuff at a parts store, 4x shop or truck stop? Huh! I wonder why distribution is so limited if the product is so beneficial to the many older diesel engines still in use? :|

    ACES II Diesel Fuel Catalyst

I have been reading about Diesel Additives. Found some good info on this one. Anyone familiar with it? Is it effective. Where do you get it? How much does it cost? Thaks, Ed

    m1009 antenna placement

I am thinking of taking the antenna off of the "M1008" and switching it over to the M1009 and just running one- I admit I think the twin set-up run with rear bases do catch my eye; but I have just one antenna now and I was thinking about placing a base on the drive side rear. Any problems with...

    Bilsteins shocks on M1009

AARRGGHHH! I finally think I have the right part ordered. I think the confusion is the last digit of the part I originally ordered. I don't know if it is my fault or not; but I ordered the "...H1" Instead of the "...H0" shock. Thanks to all of you for your help.aua

    Bilsteins shocks on M1009

Cucvfreek and doc, Follow this thread and you'll see that I ordered the K5 shocks; but they don't fit. The Bilstein catalog (pg 15 Blazer 4WD specs the first part i bought. Replies to this post stated I should buy the K30 spec'd shock. What have you got?

    Bilsteins shocks on M1009

Ended up putting the fronts on- they fit and no probs so far. The ride is more stable side-to-side. Ordered the correct K30 rear Bilsteins. I have to sell the ones I bought for the Civvy model. Anyone?... anyone?

    Bilsteins shocks on M1009

The set I ordered got here last week. I put the front ones on without any issues... The rear ones look funky: First the shock has one built-in bolt instead of a throug-the-eye bolt like the stock. The Bilstein bolt is also larger in diameter. I began to remove the old rear passenger shock; but...

    which replacement modulator?

I'll give your suggestion some thought. Per the direction sheet included by Fram: "To eliminate soft shifts or slippage, turn the modulator adjusting screw in a clockwise directions two (2) full turns..." ????? Ed

    which replacement modulator?

I have already replaced the rubber on the modulator to VRV- both ends. The two rubber hoses that come from the VRV, and the one that connects the lower VRV to the pump at the top rear of the engine. Now I know any vacuum leak affects driveability somehow; but as far as the transmission shifting...
