Quilcene, WA Parade 17 SEPT, 2016

Mission accomplished. Weather turned out decent at the parade site. Ended up with 3 - WW2 jeeps and two M923's. My 923 suffered light switch failure but made it home before dark. switch changed and back on the road again.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Shouldn't this be in the Humvee section? But go to your local trophy shop. They will have something that sticks plates to things.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Got the lights working again. I had two NOS switches sitting on the shelf. Took switch number one, a nice CARC green color. Plugged it in and nothing except the light behind the shifter was lit up. So was thinking what else have I done to this truck. Got to the Troubleshooting in the...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

The switch was dated 2005 and the truck went through rebuild in 2006, so am hoping the vibration and heat were it. there is a lot of wire in there for a very small area. I had been smelling an electrical smell every once in awhile for some time and couldn't see anything going on. An uncle...

That explains the rust issues. That salt air down there is killer.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

3 Way light switch woes. Pulled the 3 way light switch. Obviously a short, but why? we went on a mission today to a parade in Quilcene. 190 round trip from my house. On the way back, the 1SG asks why my lights aren't on. I couldn't get the switch levers to move, so we kept on heading for...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Rooster, looks like you took a picture of my battery, but mine took out the alternator too. The good thing is that I probably won't make that same mistake again soon.

Nice looking ton and a half. Looks to be an older restoration and a bundle of WW2 camo in the seat as well. Lots of work, but still interesting.

What have you done to your JEEP today

Even though it may be rough, it is still nice to see one that has not been sporterized and turned red, yellow, or green. Good luck with the restoration.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Replaced the shoe string type material on the Jumper port cap, with 6" of tan para cord. Used a couple of electrical connectors, ground the plastic off of them, spread them, put in the cord and crimped them with the electrical crimpers. It made for a nice clean up of something that has been an...

What have you done to your JEEP today

Nice looking job on the engine. You aren't one of those, I am going to hone the cylinder and put a kit in people are you? Had a lengthy discussion this week with a guy working on an M38 for another person and he is a honer. You can buy new cylinders, probably on here or the E*** for a...

Hawkes Prairie Military Family Appreciation Day 10 SEPT 2016

Mission went well. Three vehicles in attendance. 1943 GPW, 1973 M151A2, and 1984 M923. Only casualty of the day was the 1967 M715, which flipped off the positive battery terminal, shorting to the battery box and frying the alternator. The Army was a no show due to budget cutbacks so they...
