What did you do to your M715 today?

Will do NDT. Thanks for the tip. I have owned that truck for 20 years now and it has always run great, so this was a fluke. Something I missed. Sounds like a deal Frank, although I did go look at one a while back that the guy wanted 1000 for it and it was so beat that I couldn't justify the...

What did you do to your M715 today?

This is a question for you electrical wizards. What the heck did I do to my 715? Got it all greased, lubed, polished and took off this morning for a display for the USO. Hit a bump and the positive lead on the back battery, came off and shorted between the terminal and battery box. Once I...

Hawkes Prairie Military Family Appreciation Day 10 SEPT 2016

Looks to be a good weather day, 70-73 on Saturday. Just lost the 813 to a car show closer to his house. Don't know how he could go to a display 5 miles from the house when he could have gone to one 45 miles away. Just because he gets 4 to 5 MPG ! At this point we are down to a 43 jeep and a...

    PNW Info Thread!

Bonsai, sorry don't think I could do anything for you at this time, with work schedule and distance between us, it is not feasible for me. There has been a towbar on CL, up in that area for awhile. Not sure if it is still there and thought the price was a bit stiff, so I wasn't paying much...

It ran fine yesterday. Sounds like the story of my life.

    PNW Info Thread!

That is quite a ways up there from my house. Maybe some of the northern crew will chime in. Is it in good rolling condition, where someone might drop a towbar on it? Probably from the ferry cost, to get it to your side, you are going to want to pull it around the sound and back up.

Quilcene, WA Parade 17 SEPT, 2016

Hello Team, if you would like to do a nice small town parade on 17 SEPT, let us know. You could convoy up from Olympia with us, meet along the way, or meet us in Quilcene. So far we have 6 vehicles committed from WW2 to M923's. The parade is short, we usually go and park at their carshow for...

Hawkes Prairie Military Family Appreciation Day 10 SEPT 2016

Hello Team, this next Saturday 10 SEPT, is Military Family Appreciation Day at Cabela's at Hawkes Prairie, WA. The event will be in Cabela's parking lot. We probably need to be there no later than 0830. Parking is tight and we will most likely be sharing the area with a Stryker or two from...

WSUCougarx's M561 Gama Goat Acquisition and Build Thread

That is an interesting historical sidenote. My 68 M54 was brush painted CARC woodland camo and it had a yellow bridge plate in the grill and the one on the right door had been obliterated. This was an original truck. It probably went out of service sometime in the late 90's. It did go to...

WSUCougarx's M561 Gama Goat Acquisition and Build Thread

The stencils look good, but you are a glutton for punishment. The 1/2 inch machine was made in 1915 and last weekend at the McChord Airshow, the kids probably punched out over a hundred names with it. The 1" machine is a 1914 with a Marine Corp inventory tag on it. I use cereal boxes for card...

WSUCougarx's M561 Gama Goat Acquisition and Build Thread

Great stuff team. Since it is downloaded, you must have had a successful completion and return to base. Is hearing protection an upcoming must for that beast. That is one thing that most of the guys that drove those, tell me. Very neat.

it is a good thing there isn't much left to do. :-) If you need any particular 1" or 1/2" stencils let me know and we will get them cut. P

    M 880 Facts

Before you sticky this one, could there be a bit more explanation on the correlations. I have had an M886 for years and don't see the M880 correlation except that the 880 is the base truck for all the variations in that series. The way it is written, you have to read back through the bullet...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Rooster, I tried that tailgate trick once with the M54. Had both tailgate chains undone, ready to lower and someone spoke to me, turned and wham. Fortunately the step missed my head and the tailgate came down on the shoulder, grazing my head. I don't think I went out, but did see stars on...

What have you done to your JEEP today

It will look great when you are done, but it didn't look bad from your photos, before you started.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Changed the boots on the 1SG's 923A1 yesterday and played with the PBR guys tractor today. It is having an airleak somewhere and when it finally started, noticed a small leak of fuel on the rubber line going to the IP. Project for another day.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Good points Simp. My truck is an A0 too. I have one section of I-5, about 3 or 4 miles, that I either have to do 40 or get in the high speed lane. First time I went over that section, thought something was wrong with the truck, but since, I have noticed that real over the road rigs get in the...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Nope I was ignorant and lucky. Really steep hill, wet, on asphalt. brakes were not caged and air was up on both vehicles. I stopped at the top, eased over, tapped the brakes, did not put my foot in them, and started sliding. Was not in low range as I was on asphalt and it was wet as it is...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Good point and something to watch out for. I let a 923A2 push my 923 down a pretty steep hill on a wet day a couple of months ago. Downshift and brakes weren't helping a lot. Fortunately I got a pretty good lesson in with no harm to anyone else or myself. But the car that had to go into the...
