We have pondered on doing a long week end, Loop ride (convoy). Take the tents and have a slow weekend, maybe ending up at the military campground at Pacific. Too many events going on. Glad someone got to do it.
So far if weather holds, we have about 35 people signed up and around 16 vehicles. Please send me a note or call if you would like to attend. We have probably been doing this around 15 years now.
Isalandr, how many in your crew?
Anyone else, if you haven't already gotten in touch with me about attending, please do, with numbers so we can plan for food.
Thank you. Looks like this one is shaping up to have quite a few 5 tons.
Viking back to your questions 2 1/2 vs 5T, you might look in the upcoming events, 4 July in Centralia at 0900 we will be having a pretty good gathering of 5 tons. you could compare and talk with people that have them.
Tire shop fixed the four rims that were leaking. Turn signals weren't working on the 923A2, pulled the lens on all the signal buckets, disconnected the wires to the turn signal switch, then started crawling underneath, pulled the bolts that hold the rear lights, cleaned them, wire brushed the...
MD it has been a couple of years, but it seems that there is a plate inside that deforms and doesn't let the outside handle engage properly. Was able to take it apart, straighten the piece, and I may have reinforced it a bit, changed handle position and have not had any problems since.
Took the...
If it blows off in two minutes, shouldn't be too hard to find. There are a couple of good threads on fixing those door handles. If it is the fix where a piece gets bent inside, it is fairly easy once you figure out how to get it apart. I did that repair and it has been working every since...
Found a persistent airleak, added a little teflon tape, and 24 hours later, still have 30 pounds in the primary tank. It depended on how the truck was setting, but usually it would bleed off in a couple hours.
OFM airshow
Mission accomplished. had about a dozen people and 8 vehicles. Had a GP, MB, CCKW, M813, M923, M923A1, and two M151A2's. We slept in WW2 tents and ate at the field mess, cooked off Model 1937 field stoves out of the back of a 1943 CCKW.
Just put in parade registration. They do have a theme this year, Remember Pearl Harbor, 75th anniversary. They also have a requirement for all vehicles to sport a US flag. They don't say anything about size. Those with WW2 vehicles, try to do something towards the theme and the rest with M...
Sounds like worn syncros on the transmission. Does it kick out of Low range or High range, or did you mean that when in low and in gear, when you let off on the fuel, it kicks out of gear?
You guys are lucky, I never knew there was a time when mosquitoes didn't bite. But it is more irritating when having them buzz your ears at night. Ordered Wheel O-rings so maybe we can slow the air loss down on the tires. 4 of the 6 are leaking off.
Wanted to kick this up. The 1SG and I will go clean the area and mow the grass on Wednesday. Hope to also set up the Lg. Wall tent so we have some under cover display area too. Looks like the Desert Storm display is shaping up with an M151A2, M923, M923A1, and an M813, plus the tent display...
Normandie
The cemetery is the US Ardenne cemetery in Belgium, lest we forget. The M10 is above LaRoche. The other pictures are in the St. Mere Eglise area. You might note the tower of the church that the paratrooper got hung up on and survived.
Also attended the ceremony at Grainges. 150 or so paratroops ended up there through no fault of their own. Members of both 82 and 101st. It was not a designated area, but it was high ground, so they decided to stay, about 9 June 44, the Germans discovered them and they had 3 battles with over...
Will do. I got new camera so have to learn the ins and outs of posting and downloading with it. Haven't taken the time to figure it out yet. Have quite a few pictures from Normandie, that I will need to get up. It wasn't quite as busy this year as at the 70th, but there were still quite a...
The LCI makes more sense right now. If you can talk him into going, the reception he will receive will be stunning. I ended up with 8 days in Belgium and 4 days in Normandie. We hit many of the Normandie museums from Battery Crisbec, a German battery towards the west end of the beaches to...
