Contemplating a Bobber! To do or not to do that is the question!

Clarification. There is no flex between the cabs. They are rock solid. There is no concern. The front and middle mount are about 4' a part and on rubber mounts. you won't flex that frame enough in 4' to make any difference. It is a non issue. The rear mount is original just moved back I believe...

Contemplating a Bobber! To do or not to do that is the question!

Pic number 1 looks like it is the one I did. I cut he channel on the rear cab too short. Has I left it long and cut the other shorter they would have lined up perfectly. Later I found another channel to cut right. They unbolt. When you take that extra cab off, take the front cab mounts off of...

My new M220 soon to be camper

Get into is not my problem, it is the get out. I always sleep with my head on the higher side so when I wake up to P at night I'm all confused. No idea where to step. Had a close call this summer when I got my hand on the edge of the mattress and the edge coils were not as stiff as the ones in...

My new M220 soon to be camper

I'm working on a camper remodel. I decided to rework the bunk bed first. Instead of twin over twin I cut the top down to 30"' deep for a 4" custom size foam mattress. With 4" foam mattresses the top bunk can be lowered so the windows can be opened. Also the narrower top bunk makes it so the...

    Getting Bear’s Trucks Going

You need a fuel pump. Even a 12v wired to one of the batteries will do. 3 psi minimum, 12 psi will push the needle off the seat.

    1957 Utica Bend Restoration

Beautiful truck Gene! I pulled an extra 1/8" pipe plug out of my master cylinder and screwed in a hydraulic brake switch out of a 60s ford f100. Then I ran a wire back to a civilian set of LED taillights that I mounted under the outer corners of the box. I ran a second wire back for taillights...

I'd flip them just to see how it looks. I suspect most of the load will be on the outer bearing if you did flip them. And take some pictures!

Just remember on the GMC you cannot just flip hubs, backing plates and the dish is deeper on the drums are different between a M211 and M134. Don't confuse these with the M35. You have a M211 with M135 wheels and a M135 box.

Where in NE WY are you exactly? Does it have a tailgate? Looks like a M211 chassis to me because of the rear hub protrusion

Please talk him out of this

Mine has heavy weight oil. Hard shifter. I hear some owners see smoother shifts and an increase in leaks when going to ATF. Sounds reasonable to me. I believe it was Plowboy who suggested downloading the manual and setting the transmission adjustments. I would definitely do this first! As far...

Please talk him out of this

I too thought about buying locking hubs. I decided not to. The 6wd is not full time. It only engages when there is slippage in the front wheels. The binding feel when you turn comes from the rear axles not the front. We removed the front hubs and front driveshaft one afternoon. We made a couple...

    M211 questions!

    Love the color! Got Title?

    M211 questions!

Put some brake fluid in it and pump the heck out of it. My guess is it either comes out the rubber boot on the master or a wheel cylinder. It fits in a garage with the top off and the windshield down. Be careful.

    M211 questions!

I made my decision based solely on how I would look driving with the top off and the windshield folded down.

    M211 questions!

If it is the one in Effingham I would say it is. Especially if it has a title. Reality is you have a 60 year old truck and the rubber is breaking down. You may get by with only replacing a few parts to get brakes back this time. Maybe a wheel cyl or a master. In the spring you have a leaking...
