Mike, safety tip - watch the tailgates on the 5 tons. I tried mine on the shoulder today, unexpectedly! Arm is sore this evening and am wondering if it will move in the morning. Other than that, I installed one of the tailgate steps on the front bumper to be able to get to the hood a little...
Hopefully a little air and your problem will be solved. Do they have any air available there or do you have to take your own?
I have been thinking it might be nice to have a truck the is 15 to 20 years newer than what I have, but I don't use it much and mine seems to be running okay.
Mike, PS you said something about the weight factor. I think they are both rated to carry about 20,000 pounds. Don't think you will have much trouble which ever one you want to put it on. :D
Glad I didn't bid you up on that one. Was looking hard at the 925's, but I don't need another truck really either. Keep us posted if you need a bit of recovery help. I think that was the one with the two low rear tires. Hope they just need air. P
Here are a few photos from last nights lighted Christmas parade in Centralia. There were 5 MV's in attendance including 2 NG trucks, a Hemmet and an LMTV, 3 civilian rigs, 2 WW2 jeeps and the 68 M54.
Watch the sparks! I was cutting some rebar one day and started sniffing, thinking, smells like something is on fire. So I am looking around and finally look down and I am the one on fire. That is what happens when you wear new jeans to work. The steel and concrete blades are available...
Neat cutoff saw. That was a good price. I personally like the Stihl version better, but that is a heck of a tool to have in your arsenal. Did you get extra blades? They make blades for metal cutting and concrete, plus you could buy a diamond tipped concrete blade as well.
And if you had a...
Do you have your bid in on that Hemmett? Was the Robo tool a CL find. That is a great looking set and now you have given me something else to look for. Have you tried it on a lug nut yet?
When I got the M54, the PTO was busted off the transmission. The shaft was still in place, but they managed to lose the yoke as well when they wired the shaft pointing down and drove off. When I took the shaft off the winch, there was a grade 8 bolt in place of the shear pin. Probably would...
Way to go Mike! I found a tough shape hard top. Bought it off the guys scrap pile to get the weather stripping that goes over the passenger side window. have that part off, cleaned up and painted, picked up some stainless steel bolts for the reinstall, and hope to get it on tomorrow...
Drove the M54A2C around this summer for a couple of months with the hard top off. It was great. Also gave a chance to really see what the engine was doing and RPM ranges for excess smoke. Didn't think to take a picture when it was down. Also got the windshield to go down. That took two guys...
Dale am glad to hear your preparation is going well. Sorry to not be helpful with this. Facebook? This is about as high tech as I get. I don't facebook, tweet, or any of the other stuff. Good luck on today's mission. Peter L.
Picked up a PTO from Brad last weekend. Will need to replace the dust covers and the seals, but it looks like a pretty good unit. Still need a yoke for the driveline if anyone has one handy. checked with the local driveline shop and they will put one together for me for a reasonable price...
AR, are you located in Hermiston? That is a long way from my house, but we could find something to do. I have a possible parade or two on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, may be going to take the 1st Sgts. Alcan highway doghouse out of the back of his CCKW. That may be interesting as he built...
Thank you for the kudo's. If it wasn't for Steel Soldiers, this particular group of MV enthusiasts would not have been there that day. Thanks Steel Soldiers.
