That red fire department paint is peeling so bad the truck needs to be sanded to the original paint. I got some help today removing the step. The milwaukee cordless impact is impressive. As a matter of fact, I had those 2 guys eyeballing all those bolts on the cab. Couldn't turn my back on 'em...
I started getting ready to paint this week. Removed the box, hood, doors and fenders for sanding. I "test painted" the back of the cab olive drab and decided to back to the fire department red paint. I found a source for new civil defense stickers and ordered them. Looks like a good time to...
Thanks for the post Gunfreak25. I've been stuck on that cab/cowl gasket for a while. I was not looking forward to replacing it. I got the fenders off and was ready to start unbolting the cowl to get the gasket out. Fortunately my ADD sent me back to the computer! Trimming the old gasket with a...
I suspect the truck was given to a volunteer fire department by the Federal govt in the late 60s or 70s and the CD sticker was applied then. I think the truck will be green by mid summer. I will probably keep the stickers on the doors. I have a hard top and heater I will install this fall.
I have the thought about taking a 70s GM corporate 3/4 or 1 ton rear axle and swapping it under. They are full floaters so I planned on taking the axle shafts out and cutting the flanges off and throwing the shaft and using just the flanges on the hub to act as a cap. Then cutting the center...
Shorts... I think it is time. It was in the 70s today. I sweat so much today I had to change shirts. It was the worst when I was moving Gene's bomb hoist out of the front yard. I showed the kids some pictures of how it works. Now they are eyeballin' the LP tank.
Tow bar..... What tow bar?
I met a lot of really nice people in the last couple days. I'm impressed with everyone. I have to say the best part was seeing everyone in knit hats and scarfs all bundled up while Jim and I were in t-shirts driving around with the windows down. That cracks me up...
8-)Ron Rolled in at 13:00. We had some breakfast and looked at the drop off location. Should work fine. He came to look at my stuff and threw me some great ideas on my 4 door m211 project. I appreciate him taking the time help me. I have been hung up with finding a "factory" looking floor...
weather
I will update my avatar in the morning to reflect your stance on the weather.
Also, Squeak is in Mexico for the week. I don't know where he wants the trucks?????? Maybe leave me a tow bar so I can move them?
temp
It really should be Ok. 56 by mid day Tuesday, then lows are 47-49 and highs in mid 60s. I'll bet we hit 70 Wednesday. Your timing could not be better!
frost
No snow on the ground. Just a few flakes in the air. I'm not kidding. It is supposed to be a low of 29 degrees in the morning. Does he have a windshield scraper? Is this one of those southern rag topped trucks without a heater? LOL
Tuesday
LaSalle Il. 289 miles from here. Got it! How much $ at the Illinois toll booths?
I'm working Tues and Wed 5p-5a and have a half shift Fri night. I took off the rest to Monday. I can't take him to supper, but I'll get him to Mike's for breakfast Wed. If he gets here early enough...
Where's Ron?
We had some snowflakes in the air when was working on the M105 up here in Wisconsin. How far did Ron Get today? What time will he be here Tuesday?
Danny form Brookes Implement was going to Northern Wisconsin with a farm tractor. Turns out he was only about 100 miles away from the truck in Minnesota. He winched it on and hauled it home for $500. I figure he had about 6 hours and a couple hundred in fuel. I'm happy with him, It is cheeper...
Thank you. I picked it up for $1200. The guy had scrapped others, but wanted to see it restored. I got lucky. I paid him a couple months ago and he took it upon himself to clean the carb and tank. He even replaced the fuel pump and gave it a tune up. The only catch is he wants pics when it is...
I just had this rust free 52 xm211 dragged home today. 2 batteries and some gas and drove it into the yard. Had to use the hand brake, foot brake is down to the floor.
