Thanks Gene.
I'm going to pull it inside for the night. I will work on the rest of the cab tonight when the paint gets dry. I'd like to get the outside painted in the morning. I'm getting the hardtop back Monday too.
Got out of control with the paint today, Started edging. planned to do steps, edges inside and underside of fenders. Sealed the cowl to cab with $7 body caulk like Gunfreak25 suggested. I just had to paint over it to see how it looks. Very happy, thanks for the suggestion!
Yes, it was a fire...
Had a friend set the bed on an old wagon frame so I can patch up the hole in the side. Once was a fire truck.
Had to replace the bearings and seals on the wagon, Drilled rears for Ford wheels, will do the front next week and haul to the sandblaster for cleanup of the box.
Thanks for the info. Once I prime the "self" priming pump it pumps like crazy and does not miss a beat. I will take the advice and install a check valve or foot valve by the strainer so it is easier to keep primed. I picked up a ball valve to install in place of the pipe plug used on top of the...
The lift is only about 4-5 feet. Problem is the pump was made for pumping fuel from above ground tanks and not water from creeks and ponds. The pump is an impeller pump with an aluminum impeller and pump body (non-sparking). Even though not its intended design, it will do what I want. It will...
You are right, I'm using the wrong terminology. It is self priming. I should have been talking about drafting (drawing water up with a vacuum to the pump) pump does not produce enough vacuum to lift the water that high without water in the pump and suction hose.
Thanks for the idea! I've been looking for stuff to "Grill-ify" all afternoon. I'm currently trying to un-solder the top of the gas can that is mounted on by running board. (been empty for years) If it proves too difficult, I will get the sawzall out.
I have to come up with something better for priming. Have to fill the pump and suction hose to get it to pump water. It would be great with the supply tank above the pump like on a tank truck.
I went with 3 rows of holes on the top side so I would not suck muck off the bottom. I will probably attatch a tether ball or empty jug to the end of the strainer to keep it off the bottom.
Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered an adapter on Ebay went fron 2"NPT male to 2.5" male NH on the outlet side. That way I can hook up a 2.5 female fire hose or use a reducer to go to 1.5" fire hose. less friction loss with the bigger hose. Hose couplers will face the correct direction. I...
It was a hard hose, but it was stored with some bends in it. It collapsed at those spots. I may just make the suction hose out of PVC and use 12" of rubber hard suction to reduce vibration.
I purchased 2 of these fuel transfer pumps from GSA last winter. they fired right up after I hooked up a gas tank. I made a strainer out of 2" PVC pipe. Took them to the lake today. Impressed with what they pump. Unfortunately it sucked my hose flat, but still pumped some water for the pics. I...
Jim, when are you going to get the bed? I will take my PTO plate off tonight and fab a temp one for my truck. I will need one later even if your deal doesn't work. I'll box it up and wait to see what you can work out.
Glad I could help on the bed question.
The only thing I found was to reference TM 9-1918C for the dumb body and I don't have it.
I also found the dump body for a M215 was either a Garwood 2026286 or a Perfection A-4079 both are 2 1/2 yard capacity
Found this pg 578 TM 9-8024 Hope this helps

Thanks for the advice. I'll try Alpha Haven First. They were at the Iola show last week, and I found a potato farmer with a 211 about 15 miles from them with a winch he may part with.
