Ft. Lewis AFD May 19th. If anyone is interested in displaying at this event, if you would like I will put your name on my registration form. SR and I have talked and he is on. IF you are active duty, retired with your ID, and or have a base sticker on your vehicle, you won't have any problem...
Met a Marine on the way home from work today in Lacey. We got to talking and he hauled his family out this way from back east in an M35A2. He showed me camera phone pics and it looked to be a very nice truck. I told him about SS and he said that he had recently found it. So I suggested that...
Keep us posted on the rebuild. I am slammed at work for the next two weeks and will be unable to be of much help. Hopefully after that will go to a dull roar around the office.
Just replaced the air compressor to air tank line on the 5 T. About 94 inches worth of braided stainless steel. I...
Hope I am not violating a site rule, but will try to put the VBOB luncheon registration on this as an attachment. Was just getting ready to print it out and get mine sent in as well. Looks like it was to be in by yesterday. So if you are interested in attending, get it in quick or give Beth...
Amram, thank you for the great offer. I think there is an MV run to the Harley Dealership in Fife on April 21st. and on April 28th, there is a luncheon for the WW2 Battle of the Bulge guys. If you want to hang with some really neat folks that were there and did that, this is the crowd and...
Think I am missing part of this looping question, but if you are looking for trailer tie downs, go to someone that builds trailers, such as a welding shop. They will have a catalog and be able to get you just about whatever you want. If you were over here, I would send you to one of the RV...
Thanks for the look at the H2O question. Someone lent one last year, but they have moved away.
the split rim wheels look cooler, but the other rims, look like M101 rims and they don't look bad to me.
You guys put some beautiful trucks up here. I am not sure what paint job the 1968 M54A2 is going to get or retain. It was painted 3 color camo and appears to have been in Desert Storm with the 80th Ord. Bn. so now I am conflicted and thinking that I will leave it in its combat colors. on the...
Back to Jhigh's question about OFM airshow, on June 16-17. I think a few of the guys are wanting to go. You know how tight display and parking space is around there. Am trying to get with Terry to work see if we can work something out for SS folks.
Also second call, does anyone have a water...
Shoot and I was going to make you a deal on a set of civy wheels that you couldn't refuse. i bought them for the tires to put on the ambulance and have not gotten to it yet.
Could you put a pic up of what you are looking for. The link that was put up a few posts back doesn't look like what I...
Very cool way to support the effort. I have heard that they have a nice parade up there. you might watch the time as Ft. Lewis will be going till 1700 or so. You might sneak in after the other event.
I have been doing this for a long time and Ft. Lewis is one of the best places to put on our...
May 19. I don't think you have to worry about getting on post. there should be ample room for you to sneak a truck in for display. I will be doing WW1 this year so will be away from most of the vehicles. Last year they had us parked just outside the centerfield fence at the ballfield.
Is anyone planning on going to Armed Forces Day at Ft. Lewis (JBLM)? I got a note today from Kate at MWR, she is looking for lists of names for entry authorization by May 1. I asked and she sent back that no one had registered under Steel Soldiers.
I registered under my history group of...
May 12th, in Centralia, we have been asked if some of us would like to do a static display in a field across from the Train Depot, in support of their historic celebration of the Depot.
We may be sharing the field with some National Guard troops and vehicles.
They are looking to put on a...
Definitely a Red Devil parade truck. The military did have many special purpose unit trucks from recruiting to parade. My uncle was stationed at Aberdeen back during WW2 and he worked in an illustration unit. They made the blow ups for training purposes and had every paint and graphic aid...
Dan, you should send some of those pics to Teri at the flight museum. She might use them in some of their promotional materials. Nice pictures, thank you. P
