Sorry Coug, wasn't paying enought attention, thought that was to me. Yeah Scott, check out those wheel cylinders while you are in there. Althought mine were new, less than 200 miles, they had changed to DOT 3, drew moisture and they were all rusty. Ended up putting new ones in.
The 5 ton is good to go. Put a new stainless line on from the aircompressor to the tank, but I think there is still something leaking as it leaks off in a couple of hours. Put on one steel windshield wiper motor and it works, very cool. Especially when it is raining.
This event is a no go. Failure on the part of the organizers to secure space for vehicles. And no advance advertising that we would be taking part. They then wanted us to park in a remote parking lot,out of the normal pedestrian flow, so I respectfully declined the invitation. They were...
There is another shop in centralia that I wouldn't recommend. He does good work, but has had my M38 radiator for a long time and just does not seem to get to it.
Tom at TNT took the GPW radiator apart, soaked it and rodded out the tubes and it has worked great ever since.
He charged me about 1/2 to 2/3rds the price of a replacement and in one case, you don't find too many new 42 Ford radiators, so except that he needed to neutralize it a bit longer than he did, so will have to pull it and repaint, I was very happy with his work and still have the original Ford...
Think I put the particulars in our PNW thread.
May 19 at JBLM, Cowan Field area, we will most likely be behind the outfield fence at the baseball field.
Rosters had to be in by 5/1 so registration for this event is closed. If you have a base sticker and ID, you could still get in.
I will most...
Hammer, there is a guy in Chehalis, TNT radiator. It is a one horse shop and the guy has done a couple of jeep radiators for me and done a very nice job. On Jackson hwy. just north of the Baptist church. He did a reasonable turn around time on them too.
Well that is better than I thought, when you said bearings, I thought the bottom fell out of your engine. Lucky that didn't happen when you were doing one of your high speed runs.:(
We are going to have to start calling you Dr. 5Ton. Nice job on the trouble shooting. The thing about it, is that next time you have this issue, you will know what the problems can be.
Here are a few pics of 1st Sgt. Gifford's CCKW that will be going along on this mission. He built a dog house for the truck and we went and loaded it last Sunday. It loaded well and should give some comfy quarters for the trip.
Bon journey to all of you.
Was looking at a few lots that are up this time and was wondering who would pay that for what they have. When you are starting to get tent parts or tires of unknown conditions, makes you wonder. Then when they do get something neat, they want you to cut it up.
We should also be able to find some room for SS folks at the Olympic Flight Museum Airshow on June 16-17 at Olympia Airport. The Puget Sound Vehicle guys thought they might have some space and could maybe get you into the infield if necessary.
I have an open invite for May 12 at Centralia, WA we will be on the street very close to the Train Depot, in support of their 100th anniversary event. Probaby about 1000 to 1500, depending on crowds. If there are quite a few people, we will stick around.
